Dear Working Equitation Enthusiast,

Thank you so much for being one of the many people who participated in our Working Equitation events this year. We hope you had a great time.

We feel privileged to have hosted events that give so many people an opportunity to participate in the wonderful sport of Working Equitation. Thank you for being a great part of this group.

Did you know that you have a special opportunity that will help Working Equitation continue to grow in our area?

On this day, November 1st, all adult USAWE members will receive a USAWE election ballot. After voting, scroll down to view all the organizations where we members can designate $5 from our USAWE membership fee already paid this year. Select the Affiliate Organization of your choice (undesignated funds will remain in the USAWE general fund.)

Please consider selecting us, Working Equitation CLUB Idaho, LLC, to receive your USAWE member designated funds.

We are planning to provide a variety of Working Equitation events next year. These designated funds go into the CLUB account and will be used to help grow our sport and continue to provide fun events. This funds designation program is one way the national organization supports local affiliate organizations.

As a USAWE Affiliate Organization, we are working to provide you with Working Equitation opportunities in South-west and South-central Idaho. Selecting us is a great way for you to help us do this.

Thanks so much for considering Working Equitation CLUB Idaho, LLC, when you are filling out your USAWE ballot this November.

We are looking forward to seeing you at our events next year.

Happy riding!

We're excited to be putting the final touches on the the 4th WECID Buckle Series Schooling Show taking place this weekend, Jul27. We're adding an additional class sporting a Renaissance theme. Those who have studied historic mounted military maneuvers with Willa will totally enjoy this class... and there are points to earn for you and your horse's costume. This class takes place after the traditional 3 WE trials. We have an 8:AM start. The Renn Class starts at 1PM.

Here is a little write up of what to expect. Spectators are welcome. Cheering is very acceptable. If folks like this, we will consider adding it again next year.

Turn the Page
Historically a 7yo boy would be shipped off to serve a high-born lord as a Page in hopes to become a Squire at 14yo, and then a Knight at 21yo. Though the numbers were higher for boys, there were some very famous female knights in history.

In Europe the well-known Joan of Arc dressed in armor and fought alongside of her army.

In ancient Persia, females inherited their father’s armor and armory, and wearing it often fought to defend their tribes.

Many of the games used to train males and females were eventually put to a spectacle performance called the Carousello… also known as the tournament.

Our Turn the Page Tournament will follow a themed story going like this:

A rider will enter the tournament knowing there will be a cross-country journey to get to the tournament field. Each contestant’s scores will be measured against others, and there will only be One standing in the end. Don’t’ worry. There will be no blood shed as we will battle against stationary objects and not each other. It’s quite fun… you’ll see. There will be points for costume attempts too.

Games of Skill using 1-handed riding:
Carry a (pretend) sword as you journey across the countryside to enter the tournament. You will go through a forest, then a marsh with reeds that will need chopping down. Once you pop out of the marsh, you will encounter the king’s henchmen. You will need to behead them to continue on. Once your reach the tournament field, you will be asked to spear the golden rings for the Queen. Finally, smash the spinning quintain to demonstrate your prowess with a lance. “They call it a Lance”… guess what movie that comes from?
Tournament prizes and Schooling Show Ribbons presented afterwards around 3PM.

Our WE Freedom Bootcamp weekend went well. Friday we practiced obstacles, and used some historical lance handling games to build confidence in riding with 1- hand while handling weapons. It improved the garrocha pole handling for both horse and rider. Targets were the Quintain and a giant horseball... now that was fun, but there are no pics. Brand new and begining riders and horses had great success going slow... after all slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. Evening performance with a local Irish/Gaelic band.

Saturday we enjoyed an early morning start to beat the heat in our 3rd schooling show in the WECID Buckle Series, where Miss Rebecca Page competed for the first time at Level 1 in a lead-line class. 👏

Everyone loves the schooling shows. ❤️❤️❤️
