We know our kids, we know our dogs. Our dogs are our kids. Period.
I trust this dog more than I trust any human.

Pictures can be deceiving, as they only show one second of a moment.

Don’t be a Karen. We have no patience for Karen’s. Have a nice day.

It is with a very heavy heart that we pass along the news of the passing of Harland Priddle.
Mr. Priddle was a follower of (one of our very first!) and one of Gabriel’s biggest fans, from well before we ever adopted Gabriel into our family. Harland was the father of our good friend and Gabriel’s Breeder Kevin Priddle (Priddle Dobermans).

Harland led a very long and blessed life of 93 years. He was a Colonel in the United States Air Force, having been in tours of duty which included the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Pentagon. He also served as the Deputy Commander of the White House Communications Agency (1970-1974, during the Nixon administration). Following such an exciting career in Washington D.C., Harland served as Secretary of Agriculture in our neighboring State of Kansas and then later on the Secretary of Commerce.

Mr. Priddle lead such an amazing and exciting career, but he was so much more than a “career man”. He was most importantly a family man, a husband and a father. Mr. and Mrs. Priddle were married for an awesome 75 years!!! His life was as full as his heart.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the surviving Priddle family. We love you guys so much!

I know I haven’t posted anything in quite some time and I keep saying I’ll try to do better but I either forget to take pictures or I forget to post them.

With that being said, for your viewing pleasure, here is the wonderful boy and his baby girl. These two love the heck out of each other. (There’s also going to be a video in the comments)

This is a couple screenshots from an ad that I’ve been seeing lately on YouTube. It’s really upsetting me. This company (presumably, I haven’t checked them out) allows you to register ANY dog as an ESA(Emotional Support Animal). This really takes away from REAL ESA’s and Service Animals and makes it more difficult for the handlers. I have been running into people and dogs with service dog vests on more and more lately and more often than not, said dog is completely out of control. Thus far Gabriel has been very well behaved in these situations, but I’m afraid that one of these days one of these dogs is going to get loose from the handler and attack Gabriel or myself. I really need to remember to start taking videos of this, if not to highlight the misbehavior of the other dogs, but to cover Gabriel and myself if something goes wrong.

I will check out this company and post what I find out and will also compare the differences between a service dog and an ESA in separate posts.

Some of you may have noticed that Gabriel has a “service dog tag” in his recent photos.
I would like to be very clear that this tag is not required by the ADA. In fact, anyone can buy one and tag their dog as a service animal. Is it right? No. But people still do it.
There is a misconception that service dogs need tags. They do not.
Gabriel has never had a tag; however, for this trip we opted into playing the game of ignorance for the path of least resistance.
We made a choice to buy Gabriel a “tag” so that we didn’t risk getting turned away with 3 kids in an unfamiliar state.
Most Service Dogs do not have this tag - but I’m glad we had it!!! We needed to lay over on our drive and the hotel wanted to see a tag. Thank goodness we bought one because my 3 kidos had a place to lay their head that night without a fight.

So, in conclusion: does Gabriel need a tag? Nope.
… but he had one. We made a choice to take the path of least resistance.

Gabriel, totally chill (ears focused on me) at Disney Worlds, Magic Kingdom!

It’s been sprinkling and he’s not thrilled about the damp ground BUT it cooled the air off real nice!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

So last night I was out getting some Chinese takeout and as usual Gabriel was with me. While we were waiting a family was finishing up and talking about Gabriel and how the two small children could not pet Gabriel.
Gabriel and I were sitting on the edge of the wishing well that also has a few turtles in it. The children (about 5 and 7 years old) wanted to see the turtles. As they approached the older of the two (who clearly had a disability and I later find out he is legally blind) asked if Gabriel was the dog or a turtle, I informed him that Gabriel was a dog and made sure Gabriel did not get in his way. The (presumably) mom and grandmother and I made some small talk about Gabriel and how the child with the disability would eventually be getting a service dog also. I asked this young man if he would like to pet Gabriel and instructed him to just hold out his hand for Gabriel to sniff him. Once Gabriel had a good sniff he thrusted his head under the boys hand and encouraged him to feel and pet all over him. This young man was very interested in all of Gabriel’s gear as he felt around and asking me what everything was. Gabriel did an exceptional job standing still and being very patient letting this young man feel all over him. It’s almost as if Gabriel knew he was using his hands to see.

Unfortunately I neglected to ask the mother if I could take pictures of the two so no pictures for this post. I do however, wish that very inquisitive young man all the best and that he and his family have a very merry Christmas.
