Sneakers Story of a 5 mo old Pittie, named Sneakers who was dropped off at Muncie Animal Shelter in July '13 with a horrible leg injury. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Sneakers a 5/6 month old Pit who was brought into Muncie Animal Shelter back in July 2013 that our family agreed to foster. They weren't quite sure what happened to his leg, however we think it may have been tied off with cable wire as it was apparent that something had been wrapped around his leg. When It's a Pittie Rescue rescued Sneakers his wound on his leg looked nothing like it did from thei

r pics and they had him for 5 days and had not treated him properly as you can see from the pics. There was a long road to recovery for this pup. For 2 weeks AWCM treated Sneakers to try and save his leg. The leg began to heal with the proper antibiotics and care. However, Sneakers' infection was so bad that after a week of treatment his toes began to fall off and he would have a clubbed foot needing either a prosthetic paw or a full leg amputation. Due to possible complications of prosthesis the rescue and I both decided it was best to amputate. Within 24 hours post operation, Sneakers was a different pup and on his way to recovery. If you can donate to Sneakers' medical bills, any amount would be so grateful at www.rescueapittie.org. Reference "Sneakers Medical Fund" or you can mail a check to It's a Pittie Rescue, PO Box 383, Peotone, IL 60468 in memo portion of check reference "Sneakers Medical Fund". Thank you all for your love and support. We have made this page to help share his story and help raise money for his medical funds. Thank you all for your prayers and generosity. Sneakers now enjoys his life with his new family whom are foster failures.

It’s official this little puppy now named Stitch is a part of our family. My heart isn’t truly ready for this but when you foster a puppy that is just so good, it’s hard to gamble fostering another. He loves our children and has imprinted on our oldest child. I know in time my wall will come down and I’ll love him just as much as I had Sneakers. I know Sneakers would have wanted me to rescue another dog. To save another.

It’s almost been a month without you. My heart is still so broken and my emotions are numb. I keep trying to find peace with you crossing over rainbow bridge but I just can’t seem to find it. Selfishly I still need and want you here. To take all the pain I’m feeling away. I’m angry you had to leave me the way you did. We had been through so much much together and I just wasn’t prepared to say goodbye to you so quickly. I’m praying one day I’ll be able to find peace and be able to love a dog again as I did you. I haven’t felt whole since you left me. 💔😭

There is a new foster in the house. Meet Stitch. He came as an owner surrender of a whole litter of pups in rural Mississippi along with mom and dad. These poor pups were living in outdoor kennels. They have a lot to get used to inside the home including all the scary noises. But he’s blossoming and starting to act like a puppy. He sleeps through the night and doing excellent with potty training 💙

I write this with the heaviest heart. Sneakers has crossed over to rainbow bridge 🌈 . Thank you everyone for loving this dog as much as I have. So many of you showed up and supposed him throughout his journey and your love and kindness just amazes me. We had some really hard times with his behavior but ultimately Sneakers was a huge love bug. He taught me to be a better dog trainer. He taught me an unconditional love even through the really tough times. He will always hold a very special place in my heart and I miss him so much already 💔 😭 Hold your pups tight because you never know when their presence will suddenly turn into a memory 🐾🐶🪽

Please keep Sneakers in your prayers. We are at the ER vet. He’s been eliminating in the house and sleeping a lot more. He couldn’t keep himself up this morning and laid down and could not get up. His breathing was labored.

We’ve been so busy sorry for the late update but here I am with my new wheels. Still learning and we had a few setbacks while desensitizing. I Houdini’ed my back leg out of the wheelchair and fell over on a hill with it attached to me. I was a little freaked out but my wonderful mom immediately came to the rescue and was calmly petting me while she took it off. I can’t say I love it because I can’t lay down to roll in the grass and I can’t squat to 💩 but mom says it’ll help my pain in my knee.

Thank you again to all my wonderful supporters for making this happen for me. I am forever grateful and feel so much love from you all.
