It’s been about 12 weeks since Spud has arrived here. We were under the impression he was navicular, and purchased him from his owner before he was to be sent to auction in Arthur, IL. He is still lame at the walk and after X-rays discovered that he suffered an injury to his front right pastern, and was not given an opportunity to heal therefore he now needs pastern arthrodesis. A surgeon will go in and remove the extra bone his body grew to support himself while still working as a lesson/trail horse, and he will get a plate and screws to fuse the joint. While we are bummed with the lack of care he received that got him here- on the bright side there is a surgery to make him comfortable again and we are trying to get that done as soon as possible ❤️

We took Ziggy on a hand walk to the horse trails and he did amazing! Didn’t spook and just enjoyed the beautiful day 🍁He will be up for adoption soon, if you are interested please send us a message and we can give you more information about this lovely fellow. We are looking for his perfect fit- there is no hurry for us to place him and he will stay with us until we find his forever home 💜
