Made a quick stop by Good Things Utah this morning with Raising Canes Utah and Ranger, adopted from Great Pyrenees Rescue of Utah and Montana to talk about the Plush Puppy Campaign for Angel Paws.

Raising Canes Utah is donating the net proceeds from the sales of their Plush Puppy Campaign sales at all 9 of their Utah restaurants to Angel Paws. Let Canes take care of dinner and adopt a cute stocking stuffer to benefit animals in need of veterinary care in Utah shelters and rescues. You can adopt your plush puppy anytime between now and January 5th while supplies last.

Ranger was pulled from a rural shelter by GPRUM with injuries believed to be sustained by a coyote attack. He was brought into Angel Paws for a dental to remove broken teeth. Dental X-rays revealed he had suffered a gunshot wound to the face causing his fractured teeth. There was buckshot embedded into his jaw, skull, neck and, after taking full boys X-rays we discovered he had more buckshot throughout his body. The costs of his veterinary care and treatment were a fraction of what the rescue would have paid at a regular veterinary clinic. But because Angel Paws is a nonprofit, works with volunteers and receives generous donations they’re able to bridge that financial gap so this rescue can afford to keep saving lives.

Elly is recovering well from her CT & rhinoscopy. The results are as suspected, scar tissue completely blocking her left nostril and partially blocking her right nostril. Some trauma and crowding of tissue in the right nasal cavity. Some abnormal structures were removed to open up her nasal passageways on the right side. The scar tissue was completely removed with laser surgery and a medication was applied to slow the reformation of scar tissue. Elly’s “nose job” will significantly improve her quality of life by allowing her to breathe naturally.
She will be on some great pain medication, steroids and antibiotics for a while. Then Dr. Watkins will recheck her in a month.

We are so grateful to Dr. Clayton Watkins and the team at for their exceptional diagnostic and medical services.

Thank you everyone who supported Elly’s medical journey! You saved this girl’s life. You provided the emergency medical care to stabilize. The supportive care that took months to get her strong enough for this procedure today. And today she has been given the gift of a normal kitten life. Your donations have covered her vaccines, microchip, dewormings and will cover her spay when she is able to undergo surgery. Thank you for giving this baby cat her second chance.

As many of you know, we had a sweet 4 month old kitten come in after she was hit by 3 cars while being stuck in a busy intersection. One of her eyes were protruding, her jaw and cheekbone were broken and her sinuses were shattered. With time her bones have healed, and her injured eye was removed. Now all that’s left for her is a CT scan to assess the lasting damage to her sinus cavity, and then proceed with a procedure to clear her airways. So far we have raised $2,600 for Elly but we are still $1,000 SHORT! This procedure will be life changing for Elly, as it will allow her to breathe from her nose again, rather than through her mouth. Any donation, big or small, will make a HUGE difference for our sweet girl! We thank you for your help and continued support Elly’s healing journey.

The staff at Angel Paws, and more importantly, the cats, are so grateful for the generosity of our community .

We recieved many wonderful donations of blankets, towels and a few beds (Which the cats are LOVING.) Thank you to everyone who donated! Our clinic cats and patients will stay warm during these cold months.

Another HUGE thank you to Dana John’s for a very special donation of BRAND NEW cat trees. From the second the trees were brought in, the cats have been playing, lounging and sleeping on them non stop. Thank you Dana! And thank you to the transporters who brought us the new trees and took down our old ones.

I’m sure everyone has noticed the weather getting colder, and with that we are in need of donations of blankets and towels for the clinic cats as well as for our patients. This past Monday, we treated a brave kitty who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The bullet was lodged in his right cheek after entering the left side and fracturing his right lower jaw. Thanks to Veterinarian Ryan Schreyer, the bullet was successfully removed yesterday, and this resilient cat was discharged today.

Tragically, the individual responsible for this cruel act is still at large. The incident occurred in the area north of the Utah Cultural Celebration Center and east of Decker Lake in West Valley City.

We’re asking for your help to cover the $300 cost of his care.

Update on Elly the wee kitty! 🌟

Just over two weeks ago, three amazing young Samaritans brought her in, and we’re thrilled to share that Elly has made significant progress in her recovery! She’s started to embrace her playful side, exploring her foster home and trying to be the curious kitten she’s meant to be.

🌟 Update on Athena 🌟

Nine months ago, Athena made international headlines when she was rescued from a horrific situation—found bound in a sandwich box, suffering from head trauma and testing positive for methamphetamines. At that time, her future was uncertain, and we feared for her eyesight, cognition, and mobility.

Fast forward to today, we’re thrilled to share that Athena has made a full recovery! Our dedicated volunteer veterinarian, Dr. Clyde Daines, has given her a clean bill of health and updated her vaccines. Even better, she’s been adopted and is thriving in her new home!

While we await justice for those who harmed her, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Athena—through donations of toys, blankets, and financial contributions, as well as sharing her story. Your kindness has made a world of difference! ❤️

Update on Elly: Our brave little kitten, who was brought in yesterday after being hit by multiple cars, is showing some progress but has encountered a minor setback with a fever. This is not uncommon given the severity of her injuries. Our amazing vet has updated her treatment plan, and we're closely monitoring her recovery. Despite the challenges, Elly is resting comfortably and receiving plenty of love. Her new favorite activity is making biscuits while purring. Dr. Ashley Ham performs a spay on the sweetest pitty/lab/rotty(?). The doggo from West Jordan Animal Services happens to weigh 90lbs.

Alfredo was a special guest on @krclradio last night with our friend, Temma! Alfredo is a great example of what we do at Angel Paws Veterinary Services. Injured in a rural shelter, he required surgery to amputate his front leg. Because of the generous support from local donations and volunteer veterinarian, Dr. Laurel Hire with @vetscursions he was able to get the care he needed.
