We were able to get the new pasture fenced off this weekend, it took a few days to convince these guys it was okay to leave the barn, but now, I think they’re absolutely loving it.

Baby Aro sure is growing up! I’m not sure I ever made the announcement that this little cutie is going to be retained as a future show and stallion prospect for the farm. He’s already a farm and family favorite. He’s so easy to get along with and completely full of fun personality just like his sire.

His color and genetics testing came in today and was just as expected. ee aa n/Cr n/TO Pssm1 + FIS negative.

I just adore this mare. I’m hoping I don’t really regret breeding her and missing out on some ride time on her next year. BUT her and Rusty could really throw one nice foal, so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity 😍 We have been working all week to get ready for a 3 day clinic coming up the end of the month (we’re both REALLY out of shape) and maybe I’ll find an open show or two to still enter her in this fall 🤞She’s FINALLY getting the concept of a slow nice jog and lope. She truly is a joy to work with and ride.

Made it home from my sisters yesterday with a special package in tow. This gorgeous 2 yr old GVHS stallion of hers, Feeling a Bit Rusty, is going to stay with me for a bit while she’s having her little one and let me get a couple mares covered for the year. We are going to be crossing our fingers for a blue roan keeper filly out of him next fall 😍 Can’t thank Ashley Rae Dishman and Navajo Horses enough for trusting me with this handsome fella for a while! ❤️

I’ve had several people asking so I thought I’d post an update. This sweetheart of a stallion was able to come home this past week. He’s had surgery and been at the vet for the past 3 weeks. Midsouth Equine did a fantastic job with him, and hopefully will continue to. We have a long tough road ahead of us. It appears when Oakridge equine (supposedly OK’s top vet facility) found a spot in his coffin bone joint they thought had a cyst in it (their words) they thought that might be the culprit of his lameness. They injected him there in that joint and told me to follow up in two weeks to see how he was doing. After this point Apollo steadily got significantly worse, literally ended up dragging his whole leg behind him. I just knew I was going to have to put him down. I was not happy with Oakridge’s assessment of him, so after the two weeks I took him to Midsouth Equine down in TX, they found a major septic infection in his coffin bone joint and had to do surgery. During surgery they found fragments of hair down in the joint. Oakridge had injected him without shaving or cleaning the leg properly, pushing hair and bacteria into its coffin joint and to be honest very nearly killing my horse. The prognosis now is heartbreaking. He has significant deterioration of his coffin bone joint cartilage and coffin bone itself that will keep him from most likely ever being fully sound. We won’t even get into the cost of everything, but our only goal out of this is pasture soundness and listed on my release papers even that is listed as a “fair” chance. I’ve lost my show and riding partner. He does no matter what forever have a lifelong home with me. We are still not in the clear 100 percent on the infection. He’s on extremely heavy duty antibiotics. We have follow up appts every few weeks and he is much more comfortable than he was. Once we get him through this we still have to figure out if that joint was the real cause of his lameness to begin with. It does appear his shoulder being kicked in April was a separate issue and fully healed. Just some kind of crazy fluke the hoof issues started at the same time. Today, he stands with weight on both legs and walks with a limp but flat footed. I just have to hope and pray the infection is completely gone and he continues to heal 🫶

Any one know of any open horse shows OK/ AR / TX in the next few months? Prefer ranch riding/ trail type events. They’re so hard to find online.

Had an absolutely awesome weekend at my second Clinton Anderson - 3 day clinic taught by Jim Anderson. We had a great group and learned so much. My big ol completely out of shape gal thought she was dying, but I’m so impressed by how well she did. She really is a dream. Can’t wait to keep her going and build on what we learned!

Life gets busy and I just realized I haven’t introduced the two newest ladies on the farm 😍 with that said please excuse the filthy ponies… the full time groom aka me, is extremely overloaded at the moment, keeping Ellie’s knee length mane in check is going to be a serious struggle 😅

Last haul from the garden before everything froze. What’s your favorite canning recipes for a ton green tomatoes and a ton of random peppers? I’ve canned soo many pepper recipes this year I’m out of ideas. Even better if you include a link to the recipe ☺️
