As someone deeply passionate about rescuing and fostering dogs, I want to shine a light on our beautiful black furry friends who often get overlooked in overcrowded shelters.

Black dogs are just as loving, loyal, and deserving of forever homes as any other. They have unique personalities and bring so much joy to our lives. Yet, they face extra challenges finding homes due to the “black dog bias.”

Let’s challenge this bias together by celebrating and advocating for black dogs. Share pictures and stories of your beloved black fur babies. Encourage adoption and fostering of these amazing companions.

Our sweet foster Harvey having a blast at FDF Canine Services Canine with his foster siblings.

It’s amazing to see how far he has come from when he first came to us. With lots of positive reinforcement, consistency and love, he has become a well-behaved and obedient companion. It's important to remember that training takes time and effort, but the results are always worth it. This dog is a great example of the amazing things that can be achieved with dedication and commitment.

Harvey faced numerous hardships in the early stages of its life, which left a lasting impact on him. But we are working on these challenges every day.

These past 10 months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now.

The importance of training!!!!
The year didn’t start right for us. Our two girls got into an altercation (it was scary) and after realizing we just got too comfortable and didn’t train enough with Eva and do the corrections for the unwanted behavior, we knew we needed a jumpstart so she went to Foster Dog Farms, LLC for training. The first picture is from the first time she saw her siblings after 3 weeks, they played and they did great.
Now that she’s back at home, we’ve been training everyday and we can see positive changes on everyone’s behavior.
I took the second picture after a recall each one of them and put them on a “down” and “stay” command.
Third picture is after I did a recall after they were going crazy when our neighbor was walking her dog.
Fights are scary and having multiple dogs is a reason to train every single day because the moment you get lazy, can become one of the worst days of your life.
