Allison has a Therapy Cat named Rainy, so she obviously knows what she is talking about! Mom attended last month’s Cat Crash Course and said it was PURRfect!!!

New month, new CAT CRASH COURSE!

As a volunteer in our local animal shelters, I see a lot of cats surrendered, sometimes more than once. To that end, I created a FREE online Cat Crash Course that covers the essentials of cat ownership. I piloted it through our local animals shelters, and now I'm offering it to anyone who wants to understand cats and learn more about their needs. The course will be offered on the fourth Saturday of every month, 1 PM Central Time.

What do you think? ~ Check out the new sign Mom made to put on the dash of her car! Mom drives a Tesla, an electric car with "Dog Mode" that keeps the AC or heat on AND has a sign on the dash screen that tells the temperature, but some concerned bystanders don't look at the message on the dash screen and can become worried about my safety. I think Mom did a great job on my sign. Is there anything else you would want to know if you saw me in the car alone and were worried about my safety?!? QT Kittens

Great information about Legitimate Therapy Cats! Thank you for sharing Therapy Cat Baxter!!! 💜💜💜

We’ve had a recent increase in scammers claiming to have “therapy” cats/kittens for sale or adoption, here are the facts: In order to be a legitimate therapy animal the owner and the animal have to pass a behavior and temperament evaluation and a handler skills evaluation together. The animal must be at least one year old so there is no such thing as a legitimate therapy kitten. Some people buy a therapy animal certificate from online sites, which are not legitimate, or create their own fake certificate. There are two kinds of people who make these claims: they are either uneducated about the requirements of a therapy cat, or they are intentionally deceptive. Some claim that specific breeds are “therapy” cats but that’s not accurate, most legitimate therapy cats came from a shelter or rescue group.
We hope this helps you make wise decisions, we don’t want anyone to get scammed. We delete and block as many as we can but they are relentless!!

While in Naples… Mom took me to Cattyshack Cat Cafe in the Gulf Coast Town Center., located in Ft Myers. They work in partnership with Gulf Coast Humane Society to adopt PURRfect kitties into their FURever homes, so I am the ONLY feline visitor allowed. There are perks to being a Therapy Cat and being named after Queen Padmé Amidala from Star Wars!!! Speaking of perks, Mom says Cattyshack has aMEOWzing coffee, tea, and treats. Don’t tell dad, but Mom LOVES their merchandise & cat items!!!

Did you know that most therapy cats came from a shelter or rescue group? There are some pedigreed therapy cats, like myself, but we are not the majority. Mom’s first therapy cat, Dog, was a stray that showed up one day at a relative’s house. They had enough pets so we adopted him. Her second therapy cat, Eddie, was a failed foster. Eddie and his blind sister were very young and very sick when we got them, we fostered them for a long time before they got well, by then Mom was extremely attached to them so we adopted them.
There is no “best” breed that will guarantee a cat will be suitable for volunteer work, a cat’s temperament and personality are what’s important.
PS: I’m the first and last pedigreed cat in our family, the rest are rescues.

Indy is reminding you that today is ! We hope that is every day at your home! Indy is a rescued stray who is slow to warm up to people but loves other cats. She's been waiting a long time for her forever home. She'd be a great barn cat or wants to find a patient human that will take the time to gain her trust and love. Indy says ALL cats deserve respect, not just the sweet ones, not just the cute ones, not just the ones with homes...respect the feral ones, the slow to trust, the old, the scarred, and beat up by life. When you think about what the elderly often have lost - their spouse and/or other relatives, their house, their car, their independence, aspects of their health, their mobility, their eyesight, their wealth, their purpose, their value in society, etc., I have always been amazed at the grace, strength, gratitude, and giving spirit that they somehow maintain, in spite of. One or two of these things would stop much younger folks in their tracks. I admire them always and am grateful for the time I'm able to spend with them. Take a moment to reach out to the elderly in your life and tell them how much you appreciate them. I guarantee you'll make their day..
