Do you struggle providing outlets for your dogs energy? Do you find yourself playing fetch or walking your dog and soon after that physical activity is over they are ready for more? While physical exercise is important for dogs, mental stimulation is just as important and beneficial. 5 minutes of teaching your dog something new and having them use their brain will tire them out more effectively than them mindlessly chasing a ball. Next time you play fetch ask for a command your dog knows like down, sit, stay, etc…. and reward by throwing the ball. You are working their brains and their bodies that way. You can also use your dog’s meals to teach new behaviors. By hand feeding meals you will become more relevant to your dog.
