Hello ' Furiends ' 😽
We are in the beginnings of our rainy / hurricane season and so I have the need to ask for help with donations and supplies.

My little girl is growing fast !
I wanted to point out a ' funny ' in this pic. I'm sure many of you can relate. Notice the computer chair she is perched on. All the kits have always loved this spot and I had to put a couple of T-shirts over it b/c it was being torn into shreds and I want to salvage it for as long as I can !
The ' funny ' is all the holes ! LOL ! Copious amounts of claw marks and claw snags all over ! It makes me giggle. 😸

Bambi is a domestic tortoiseshell . That is NOT her breed, rather it refers to her patterned coat.
Like calico cats, you'll find most tortoiseshell cats are female. That's because the same chromosomes that determine their s*x also determine the colors in their coats.
Because females have two X chromosomes, they have two sets of genetic information that can determine their coat color. The embryo shuts off one X chromosome in each cell, resulting in orange and black color variations in their coats. 😼

Cooter wanted to share with you some cool info about cat whiskers !
1) Cat whiskers are rooted much more deeply in the skin than ordinary fur, and the area around cat whiskers has a very generous supply of nerves and blood. This makes the whisker tips so sensitive that they can detect even the slightest change in the direction of a breeze.
2) In addition to the eight to 12 cat whiskers your cat has on either side of her nose, she also has shorter whiskers above her eyes, on her chin, and on the backs of her lower front legs.
3 ) Cats are farsighted — they can’t see well up close — so when they catch their prey, whether that prey is a mouse or their favorite feather toy, they need some way to sense that their prey is in the proper position for the fatal bite. The whiskers on the back of your cat’s forelegs, and to a lesser extent, those on her chin and the sides of her nose, are crucial for that purpose.
4 ) Although your cat does shed a couple of whiskers from time to time, you should never trim cat whiskers. She’ll become disoriented and may begin acting dizzy and confused because she’s no longer receiving those vital navigation signals. Imagine if somebody grabbed you and put a blindfold on you and you couldn’t take it off for a few weeks — that’s about what it’s like for a cat whose whiskers get cut off. ( why some people still do this hurts my brain ! )
5) Don’t be surprised if you find a white whisker growing in your pure black cat’s fur as she ages: Cats do start going gray with age, but it’s not noticeable unless your cat’s fur is a dark, solid color.

I do a lot of research when it comes to kits. I am always so miffed when I come across articles saying that feral cats are unadoptable and / or can not be socialized. BULL P**P !! 💩

And I can touch them all. I can hold and love on all of them except Ash & Slim ( who are still works in progress ) but they allow me to pet them in snippets and apply monthly topicals when I am super slow & cautious. If you have time, patience and above all love in your heart, these amazing creatures should NEVER be ignored and thought of as a lost cause. 😼
Almost 13 years ago when I first moved to the swamp I remember seeing a huge tomato truck making a sharp turn and a whole bunch of tomatoes came tumbling out and fell to the road and curb in front of me. All of a sudden all these cats came running out of the woods, literally grabbing the tomatoes with their teeth and ravishly eating them ! They were starving and there were so many of them ! I have never forgotten those images and to this day I have continued to feed & care for as many feral kits as I can... but I can't do it without your help. All month of December I have politely asked for any donation or wish-list item to help us stay on tract and start the mew year in the right direction. If you would like to send us some help we would be most grateful. And as always... sharing is caring too. We know times are tough for everybody, so if you can't donate, please consider sharing this post.
