POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the puppy?
BREEDER: $2500+ dollars.

POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!

BREEDER: What do you think would be a good price?

POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $500. You breeders are so overpriced.

BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way; why don't you try it yourself?

POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!

BREEDER: For FREE, I can teach you how to do it, and you will also have the knowledge of how to do it again.

POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you!

BREEDER: To start, you will need a female(average cost $2500 and up)and a male(average cost $2500 and up) or semen (average $2000-$2500 and up). You will need to do & pass OFA Breed specific OFA health testing on them, which averages about $800+ per dog.

Let's not forget progesterone testings, inseminations, ultrasounds, x-rays, semen collections, semen analysis, potentially semen overnight shipping, and so on ($1500+).
Raise and provide daily care, feeding & grooming for two years. (minimal $250 per month) Oh, don’t forget monthly prevention, annual vet visits, and any other additional vet visits.

POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money...

BREEDER: For $1200, you can raise a litter and then keep one of the puppies. Obviously, you will pay the cost of whelping & care.

POTENTIAL OWNER: I can do that.

BREEDER: OK, so I have a female due to whelp in 2 weeks. You will need to be available 24/7 around the clock for at least 9-12 weeks to help with delivery and care. ( a million loads of laundry) Another 4-plus weeks to monitor mom and puppies.

POTENTIAL OWNER: twelve weeks?? It's way too much time for me! I have to work.

BREEDER: Plus, You will need to be available for puppy families to call you 24/7 with a worry or concern, no matter the age. You MUST also be ready to take back the puppy/dog at any age if the family has an unforeseen emergency.

BREEDER: You will also need the reproductive vet to do progesterone testing($110/ test ), X-ray to get headcount ($100) & C-section($1600-$5000 if needed), and initial vet care on pups until old enough to be placed ($800+).
Have on hand a scale, thermometer, latex gloves, puppy pads, incubator, oxygen concentrator, nebulizer, heating lamp, whelping box, puppy pen, blankets, toys, bowls, cleaning supplies, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, formula, medications & hand feeding supplies in case of emergency...

POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!

BREEDER: For $3000+, you can buy them.

POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a puppy.

BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us, there are no vacations or holidays; while you go to visit with family & friends, we are home at our dogs' side caring for them. It is a no-break commitment.

THIS IS THE REALITY
When you choose a reputable person, you aren’t only purchasing the puppy but also knowledge, support, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc...
**Plus the cost of lifetime support to the puppy owners…
These numbers are just the tip of the iceberg, (best-case scenario!!!) As a reputable breeder who takes on this journey full-time!

What does kindness mean to you?

Kodiak
Kindness looks so different for everyone. We all view acts of kindness as something that we should all strive towards but not necessarily something we do all the time. Showing kindness is in our nature if we just let it shine.
Our current kindness crusade is finding Kodiak the perfect home. He is absolutely perfect in every way. He is current family has taken amazing care of him but due to current circumstances has made a hard decision to try to find him a more suitable place for the type of puppy he is.
We are looking for a family with space for this big boy, kiddos to love him, lots of time for him (hopefully someone who stays home) and somewhere he can stay forever.

I am facing a disease that is not well known or understood. Most who do have it never are diagnosed and end up having a hysterectomy as a preventative measure due to the pain.
My emergency surgery was to remove a calcified ossification from my endometrial tissue. Bones developing places they shouldn’t be is never a good sign. The pain is the worst part.

After traveling over 1000 miles this last week for medical treatment and appointments, I am so happy to have slept in my bed last night.
Yesterday, I had to have emergency surgery to remove an object out of my uterus.
I had my Merina removed on the 17th and ever since I have had excessive pain. I started having pain five months ago bust we could not find any reason why I was in pain. Since February, I have been searching for a reason as to why I felt so sick and had abdominal pain.
Finally, I decided to have my merina removed as a last resort.
It was a terrible experience and incredibly painful.
But the pain only got worse. Leading us to emergency surgery yesterday.
We are currently waiting on the pathology of the results of what they found but only 4% of women in the world have ever developed what they removed from me yesterday, most being malignant.
My battle with abdominal pain may be getting better but I may be battling a whole new, much more life threatening disease now.

We are asking for prayers and hope.

I am out of options. After three ER trips in 48 hours with an emergency surgery, all of my resources are gone.
Hard does not begin to describe how my life has been.
I just want to cry.

Emergency surgery, ended in a terribly painful procedure. This could not have come at a worse time. With everything going on I just am struggling.
Please, any prayers would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know what else is going to come of all of this, I will keep praying for brighter skies.

Dog food time!!!!! 5lbs of chicken in the oven that’s done and cooling. Veggies to chop at the end. It’s a process but i feel it helps just as much as if we eat well.

Nodak Animal Rescue Services was founded in 2023 with the mission to help the homeless animal community and to provide support to the local people who need it most. After spending the beginning of 2023 disabled and homeless myself, I promised that I would be a difference, even just in one person's life. I remember clearly asking my friends if they would be willing to take in one of my children or pets until I could figure something out. Not because I didn't want to sleep somewhere warm and safe with food in my stomach, but because they were what truly mattered.

In the end, I was helped by just a couple angels. I have never been more grateful for someone in my life. But the feeling of gratitude that I still feel after all of this will be with me forever. It was the momentum that started Nodak Wholesome Eats and now Nodak Animal Rescue Services. Years in the military, working in the medical field, and now dedicating time to helping my passion for animals in the most beautiful way.

I could not be more excited to see you here!

We have something in common for you curiosity to have brought you to my brain/ish.

Is it a furry critter or a possibility of one?

That I understand more than most, on a lot of different levels. From training them, raising them, caring for them, rescuing them, and now using more than a decade of medical education and training to help make them healthier, my heart goes to ever animal out there.

My life has been filled with joy given to me by the love of my animals and it is so worth it to me to be able to help others feel the best they possibly can.

What does this mean. Well, exactly what we should be doing as people. Eating healthy and fresh food.

Maintain quality. Keep out filler ingredients. Variety daily. Use ingredients instead of fillers or vitamins but supplement when needed.

Most of all, make sure your friends get what they need.
