Had some BOMB 🔥🔥 tacos this past weekend at Bollywood Tacos Chattanooga
20/10 recommend!!
Our server was amazing and let us bring Juno in. When asked why, he had some great reasons!
- Dogs are meant to be our companions 🐕
- It is OUR responsibility that our dog behaves 🏋️♀️
- Our dog must be calm and friendly 😁
Thanks so much for your hospitality! Will definitely be coming back!
Sweaty after a workout 💪
but point still stands! 🔥
Don't wait for a catastrophe to get your dog trained.
P.S. working out is a great time to work on your dogs training! 🙃 #multitasking #youhavetime

Very thankful for off-leash reliability these last few days. I’ve also seen some off-leash posts from some of my board and train clients who I know are thankful! If this is something you’d love to have with your pup 🦮, send me a 👉🏼 DM!!

With the new year, there are probably several of you who have gotten a new puppy or dog, or know someone who has! Puppies and new dogs dogs in the home bring a lot of excitement and joy. They also bring a lot of excitement on the walks. New smells. New people. New dogs. New environments!! 🤪
If your new dog is a strong puller, it may be tempting to reach for a harness. And by all means, a harness has a time and place! By no means am I suggesting you put a prong collar or e-collar on your 8 week old puppy. But if you're hoping to DECREASE pulling, a harness and/or flat collar isn't doing you any favors!
Checkout some of my previous reels addressing pulling issues that can be achieved through a simple slip lead! 😉

Does the idea of the e-collar scare you? If so, I’d say that’s pretty normal. Especially when we don’t have a lot of education on what that looks like practically. Sometimes we can hear all of the right things, have all of the education, and even then, it can be easy to wonder if adding in the e-collar will change our dogs personality or enthusiasm for training, or just overall life!
In this video, I am using continuous pressure on the e-collar multiple different times. As you can tell, Russell’s overall demeanor to train is just as enthusiastic as it would be without the e-collar.
In my experience, adding in the e-collar for obedience commands and working through behavioral issues can actually increase the dogs confidence. We’re able to hold them accountable more CONSISTENTLY (even off-leash), and more ACCURATELY (varying levels on the e-collar depending on the dog and situation). Through our increased consistency and accuracy, it communicates to our dog that we are a more stable and reliable leader, thus increasing their overall confidence!

Generalizing basic obedience with Levi!
This is a huge step that most owners don’t think of, but will take their dogs obedience to the next level. This doesn’t just apply to obedience, but also to any behavioral issues you’re working through.
So what is generalization? Generalization is where we take one behavior, and we apply it to multiple environments and or settings.
Why is it important for dogs? It is important because dogs learn concepts in PICTURES. Meaning… if your dog learns how to “SIT” in your kitchen, where there are no new people, no other distractions, and with that particular layout, they have learned that “SIT” is applicable to THAT particular picture. In other words, in an environment that looks the same as your kitchen.
Where does that leave you as owners? It leaves you thinking that your dog knows sit in all environments. In reality, they know sit in 1 particular environment. You are then frustrated with your dog and why they are being “disobedient”. Cue the classic phrase…
“My dog never does this at home”
Conclusion: if you want your dog to truly understand a concept, you must GENERALIZE that command or expectation in multiple environments. If you are working with a trainer, ask them if that is something they’re doing with your dog during the training program.

Biscuit was a HUGE puller when I first got her. Lots of issues with reactivity on walks with other dogs. In just a week we went from the first slide, to the second and third videos. Progress can be quick with the right tools combined with reading your dog!Biscuit is now a loose leash walker and is even reliable off the leash!Let me know in the comments if your dog is a puller! I’d love to help you out! #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogtrainingnashville #dogowner #careyk9academy #happydog #obedience #hermsprenger
