Just a little PSA. There is a pretty large stray cat colony in Holley By The Sea that has Panleukopenia. This is a very highly contagious virus. Please make sure all your cats are fully vaccinated. You can carry this disease into your home on your shoes so please make sure even your indoor cats are vaccinated. This disease can be fatal.

Just a reminder as we are heading into summer and hurricane season, all boarding facilities and most hotels will require your pets to be up to date on vaccines. Please schedule your pets ahead of time. We are scheduling about a month out for vaccines. We will not be able to overbook, do a drop off, or “squeeze” you in for vaccines. There is nothing more stressful then trying to get your pets vaccinated last minute before a vacation or an evacuation. Call 850-936-4446 to schedule. Thank you.

We will no longer be approving prescriptions over the phone, through fax, or email. Due to the high volume of prescriptions places like Petmeds or Chewy receive, they do not seem to be able to keep up with what comes in; therefore, we are having to send the same prescription multiple times. We will approve Covetrus or Vetsource as they send and receive their prescriptions differently. If you are using any other pharmacy, you will have to pick up a written RX from our clinic. (We do not mail, fax, or e-mail prescriptions. ) Please allow 24 hour notice when requesting a written RX. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

Do you have an itchy dog? Fleas? Or are they scratching at their ears? We have 3 different drug studies going on right now. If your doggy has an ear problem or skin problem and has not had any medication for at least two weeks we can help at no charge to you. If your dog has at least 10 fleas and is not currently on flea or heartworm prevention (within the last 30 days) we can get them flea free at no cost to you. The team at ECWR is composed of not only of educationally and skilled staff, volunteers, and interns, like Certified Vet Tech(s) (CVT) and Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator(s) (CWR), but we also have our volunteer veterinarian (and our board President), Dr. Natalie Dyson! For World Veterinary Day, we wanted to highlight all the amazing work she has done and continues to do. Dr. Dyson graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2000, and now has been helping animals of all species – wildlife and domestic – for over 20+ years. As the owner of St. Francis Veterinary Clinic in Navarre, Florida, Dr. Dyson not only helps local community members with medical needs for domestic animals, but she also donates her time to help wildlife patients in need. Whether it be on-call or for her regular visits, she examines ECWR's patients with extra perplexing medical injuries, like an Eastern Box Turtle with an ear infection, or a Brown Pelican with a knife in its digestive system. We thank Dr. Dyson for her expertise and abilities to help us with our wildlife patients, as all our intakes have a unique background and host of difficulties that may not occur in the world of traditional dogs and cats.
