Baby Bunnies!
After about a year of work, it finally feels like it's paying off. My first litter of American Chinchilla Rabbits will be leaving the farm in a week or so, and today Cedar surprised me a day early with 7 kits!
With another litter on the way in about 2 weeks, we are going to be swimming in baby bunnies!🥰

These are American Chinchilla Rabbits, wonderful multi purpose rabbits. The litter is full pedigreed and could do well as pets or for show 🥰 shoot me a message if you'd like to get on the wait list!

Baby bunnies!
My favorite doe Willow kindled an absolutely adorable litter of American Chinchilla Rabbits this past Monday. This breed is very versatile, excelling as meat and pelts producers, as well as having the temperament to succeed as pets and show rabbits.

These kits are pedigreed, and will be available in a few months for pet, show, or butcher homes. I also plan to dabble in tanning pelts, so keep an eye out for gorgeous pelts in the future!

Surprise! Thought I saw a hen sneak in to the far side of the coop and went to check it out. Found a little more than I bargained for 😂
I'll work on getting them put in a cage where they'll be safe tonight, definitely a welcome surprise as I was wanting to hatch some eggs soon 🥰

It's officially fly mask season on the farm, scar and shoofly are old hats to this routine (though shoofly despises velcro and has to have a slip on mask), but merlin is still getting used to it. Here's hoping he doesn't destroy any masks this season. Last year I had to throw the one I'd gotten him away, and the one for shoofly 🤦🏼‍♀️
Oh well, just means shoo gets a fancy new one this season 💜

Welcome the newest members of the farm! American Chinchilla Rabbits
Going forward, all breeding rabbits will be named after trees so
The first picture is my buck, his name is Douglas(Fir)
The three does are Cedar, Aspen, and Willow
All four are pedigreed American chinchillas and I will be pedigreeing their kits when I start breeding in a few months.
American chinchillas are a rare breed known for their good body quality, fast growth rate, moderate temperaments, and gorgeous pelts. Kits will be used for meat, or for sale as pets/show once I refine my knowledge on confirmation. My goal is to not only provide our household with a sustainable meat source, but to also improve the breed. I will also be learning how to tan the pelts and potentially selling them.
I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me 😍
