Some beautiful ponies and their before and afters- lovely visit last week with .voltairedesign and friends. First two weeks of Waterloo, a new role as a barn manager, and showing all last week has me busy busy- but I’m booking for those summer clips still- get the spots now before they are gone. Next up- braiding at the young horse show at , HHF at and at the end of the month

When I first met Spoon and Blue last year, I also met the sweetest couple just trying to find their way back to the equine world. The once childhood world champion was fighting to keep weight on a senior saddlebred who fell into her lap. Today I revisited Spoon and her bonded mate Blue to give them a spring cut- I was blown away. The shine to Spoon’s coat glimmered in the morning sun, and Blue, a once terrified hackney, remained playful in the cross ties instead terrified of everyone. Patience pays. Horsemanship pays. Education, trial and error, professional input, community, not giving up or giving in- all pays. Keep doing what you are doing and I can’t wait to visit my friends again next year.

Considering braiding this summer? Start your mane pulls early- pulling your mane for the first time when you are being braided is not the time for perfect little hunter braids- perfect braids happen when your mane is properly maintained. Peaches here is a queen and always stands super quiet for her adjustment. She grew quite a bit this winter!
