Well Delta decided to give us a nice Christmas present today. She found, two different times today, something awful to roll in🤢. After two baths she smells nice and sweet now, but she is definitely starting off on the naughty list for next year.
I can't imagine all those puppies didn't get completely spoiled on their first Christmas. I'd love to see pics and hear all about it if anybody cares to share😊.

And just like that, they are all gone. I didn't get pictures of everybody today like I wanted to but here's a few. I'm very happy with all the homes that they went to. It sounds like they will all be adequately spoiled. I'm going to leave this page up for anyone who wants to post pictures or updates. I'd love to hear how they are all doing and see what they look like as they grow. 😊

It's almost time! Puppies have their 8 week vet appointment Monday, October 25th. They will be ready to go to their new homes by that afternoon. I'd like to get as many sent to their homes that day as I can since I will not be working that day. If that works for you please let me know. If not, we can try to schedule a time later that week.

Since we're less than two weeks away from puppies going to their new homes I thought I'd share a few of my favorite things. Maybe not so much my favorite things, but the things that have made being a hound owner easier. I found all of these on Amazon and these are the exact things I use at my house. I hope someone finds this useful. 😊
#1 Potty Bells 🔔 It sounds silly but it works. Our girl wouldn't tell us when she needed to go outside. She would just sit at the door quietly and then eventually p*e on the floor bc I had no idea she was waiting there. When I got these it took her about a day to figure it out and they are loud enough I can hear them all the way upstairs. I highly recommend these.

#2 Wire Kennel. It is not cruel for your dog to have a safe place to go. Delta is very happy to go into her kennel even when we don't tell her to. It's a comfy place she goes to escape crazy kids or just take a nap. Our spoiled girl has a bed in our living room and her kennel and bed in our mudroom. She likes both. When she was a puppy it kept her out of trouble when we couldn't be home and helped with potty training as well. They don't like pooping and p*eing in a place they are locked in to. This one is perfect size for a grown basset.

#3 Rubber Dog brush. I've tried regular brushes and they didn't work well on the slick coat and she didn't like them either. This one just feels like she's getting pet and grabs all those loose hair very nicely. We use it for scrubbing her in the tub as well.

#4 Pet Containment System. This is expensive but to me very much worth it. Any hound has tendencies to follow their nose. If there is no fence or something to stop them they tend to wander. We live next to a busy road and I want to be able to leave her outside if she can't go with me. She's able to get to most of our yard without us installing any kind of fence or leaving her on a chain.

Today was puppy picking day for a few of our soon to be puppy parents! It was so fun to watch everybody interact with them and, in typical basset form, the puppies picked their new people. I'm so excited for all of you.😊

My baby girl wasn't feeling the best this morning so she gets to stay home and snuggle puppies with me today. I think that's just the medicine she needs.
This is Roger. He's my favorite of the week. He's a very sweet boy that is really starting to enjoy snuggles.
This week I will be getting pictures of each puppy again and hopefully a video as well. I will be getting ahold of those on the list when it's your turn to come pick out your puppy. I know everyone is very excited. I am so very happy that I have homes lined up with people who are this excited to bring these pups into their families. Please be patient with me while I get the schedule worked out for everyone to come see them.

This is about how much energy I have left after helping take care of these guys this week.😴 I am so ready for mama to be back to 100% so she doesn't need my assistance anymore. On the other hand, I do get to spend more time than normal with these cuties. Gosh, they are just darling.

Puppers are really getting around now. Ears are growing longer everyday and I even seen one trying to howl/whine yesterday. 😆 Personalities are starting to show as well. There's a couple little stinkers that like to get everybody stirred up and a few that love the snuggles.

Well, yesterday was unexpected and a little scary as well. I'll start by saying everyone is doing fine now. Yesterday morning I noticed Delta seemed like she was in pain. Within an hour, she couldn't walk. By the time we got to the vets office she couldn't stand, and shortly after couldn't even lift her head. Dr. Joy took an x- ray and started her on an IV and antibiotics. He still wasn't sure but we were running out of time and he had a hunch of a couple things it could be so he went ahead and took her to surgery. He found she had a massive infection in her uterus and it had gotten in her blood stream. The only way to fix it was to spay her. We finally got her home at about 8:00 last night. Her puppies were so much happier to have their mom back. I had been feeding them with milk replacer while she was gone and they were not happy about it, and honestly neither was I. She's feeling much better today but we are trying to be very careful at feeding time. Vet says this surgery shouldn't effect milk production at all so puppies should all stay fat and sassy as long as they still need the milk. We're very happy that puppies and mama are all doing good but this does mean we won't be having anymore basset puppies. I'm very sorry to people who were looking forward to getting one in the next batch. We were looking forward to it too. This has been quite an experience having these pups.

Everyone thinks they are going to just die when mom leaves to go outside for a minute. They are just a bit dramatic. Everybody is doing great and mama is recovering nicely as well.

Delta was full of surprises last night. This little girl and 3 others arrived through the night. She delivered 13 puppies! Two, sadly, didn't make it through the night but we have 11 happy, healthy, basset babies.
