This wonderful step forward was agreed upon during a meeting focused on disease control and animal welfare enhancement, attended by city officials and the Dog Meat Free Indonesia coalition, with FOUR PAWS being a significant member.

❗ As we have reported multiple times, the sale of dog 🐈🐕 and cat meat can spread deadly diseases such as rabies, and this has been acknowledged by the city's representatives. Indonesia is currently grappling with an increase in rabies cases, posing a threat to provinces and cities where they are striving to curb this situation, including Yogyakarta. Nationwide surveys indicate that only 5.4% of Indonesia's population has consumed dog meat, yet this trade negatively impacts the entire population.
