Puppy surprises! ๐
With 4 years of mini Golden Mountain Doodles under our belt, not much surprises us with these little guys. But this recent bunch is a little different than our usual. Why?

Normally, due to budget considerations (and those are real!) our more "designer" puppies (Merle and tri-color in particular) are slower to reserve, whereas our black/black & white get lots of inquiries. This time, the opposite is true! So, at the moment, we have an imbalance of the black/black & white puppies available.
But guess what? The black/black & white puppies go through ENS, get the same level of nurture and socialization, are astroturf potty-trained, go home with the same health warranty and genetic guarantee...you get the idea. The only thing "different" about these little guys is their color.

In a typical bunch of puppies, we see a mix of active and quiet, or "introvert" and "extrovert." For the most part, our current bunch is on the playful and extroverted side.
TBH, some people see the word "extroverted" and don't get in touch, because it's the calmer puppy they think they want. But I'll tell you what, the majority of people looking at Carrier Family Doodles want a family dog for their kids. In that case, it is RARE that I would recommend a "calm" or "introverted" puppy.
"Active" and "extroverted" does NOT usually mean that a puppy has Energizer-type energy (he keeps going, and going and going!). I can think of only 2-3 of our puppies that have been this way. Instead, the active puppy has a good level of puppy energy, and is active and engaging with people. They are "always on" and ready for anything. BUT, when they get some good puppy play, they typically do settle in for a good relax session with their people.
In contrast, an "introverted" puppy loves people and will play and socialize but (much like an introverted human) needs to withdraw and re-charge at a certain point. This type of puppy needs an open crate, snuggly bed, or place under a table or behind a couch where he can rest. When he's ready, he'll find his people again. As you can imagine, it can be a challenge to accommodate the introvert in a busier household.
Introverted puppies usually prefer lower-key environments and a certain amount of predictability, whereas the extroverts don't mind sudden changes, loud noises, or new people. Our extroverted puppies are really an ideal fit for an active family!
The great thing about our GMDs is that they are sociable and people loving, as well as eager-to-please. They are also quite intelligent. Combined, these character traits make our puppies highly trainable, so that even our most extroverted puppy quickly learns how to adapt to his environment, and becomes a much-loved member of the family.
