Looking for a new best friend? How about a walking buddy? Maybe a Mardi Gras Party Pup?? Look no further!

We have officially launched our FOSTER TO ADOPT Program! What is a foster to adopt you ask? A foster to adopt is a way for us to help place animals into homes for a period of time, to ensure the animal fits into your lifestyle and home! This program is especially wonderful for young animals that really should not be in a shelter environment but are old enough to not need neonatal care! This also helps the potential adopter make the decision to either keep or bring the animal back, if they do not fit into the potential adopter's home environment (remember, we do not believe return is a dirty word!)

With all animals in our foster to adopt program (fun fact, ALL our animals are available for a trial adoption!) we will provide food and basic care, vaccines, and when the animal is old enough, we will get them spayed/neutered, rabies vaccinated and started on heartworm prevention (based on weight)

All animals will be microchipped before they leave the facility.

If you are interested in potentially fostering to adopt one of these puppies, please reach out below!

This is the most off puppy season in the history of ever… this is why it is so IMPORTANT to spay and neuter your animals to avoid unwanted and truthfully unnecessary litters.

We are DESPERATELY needing and seeking rescue(s). OR FOSTERS!!

We will allow puppies not nursing to go to a foster home, or a foster to adopt (please call if you have questions)

We have one litter of 6, 7-week-old puppies without a mom. Mom is a Lab Mix

We have a mamma with 8 puppies still nursing but beginning to wean at this time. Puppies are about 6 weeks old.

We have two pregnant bonded moms who are due in what we think is less than 1.5 weeks. The moms are 30-40 # (heavily pregnant) and are GSP/Terrier mixes. While ideally, we would separate it has been noted that the two do NOT do well apart. If a rescue would like to tag both and can separate them from there. With our limited cages and staff, they will remain together under constant supervision and separation will happen when it is absolutely necessary

If there are any rescues that are available to help tag and move puppies, please reach out below:

Great information regarding TNR! We are hopeful that once we find a vet with more availability to fit us in for Spays/Neuters we can implement our TNR program

It is not that relocation of feral cats cannot be done, but it is not an easy or always successful task. Let's take a closer look at the obstacles:

TERRITORIAL BEHAVIOR:
Feral cats form strong bonds with their territory and may attempt to travel long distances to return to their original home, putting them at risk of injury or death during the journey. There is a chance they will run away from their new location even if suitable acclimation was carried out. If there was no acclimation process, you can almost guarantee it.

STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE:
You will have to keep the kitty confined long enough so he can learn that this is his new home and you are the new feeder. This process is highly stressful for cats, especially since they are not socialized to humans and may not understand what is happening. It is also stressful for the human trying to care for the cat.

VACUUM EFFECT:
If cats are removed from an area, it is said that new cats will quickly move in to fill the space, meaning relocation does not actually reduce the population.

POTENTIAL FOR HARM IN NEW ENVIRONMENT:
A relocated cat may not be familiar with the new area's predators, food sources, or shelter options, increasing their risk of injury or starvation.

ETHICAL CONCERNS:
Many animal welfare organizations consider relocating feral cats as inhumane due to the potential for significant stress and danger to the animals.

🔸 What can you do instead? 🔸

TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN (TNR):
This method involves trapping feral cats, sterilizing them, vaccinating them, ear-tipping for identification, and then returning them to their original location.

PROVIDE FOOD AND SHELTER:
If you are concerned about a feral cat population, consider providing food and shelter in a designated area to help manage their numbers and reduce conflicts.

We reached a record low this year in cold weather. The snow has stopped BUT that does not mean you can leave your dogs outside for extended periods of time, or outside in general. We are actively on standby and will be going out with police on any animal related calls. Bring your pets inside!

P.s: we understand the difference between working dogs (livestock protection) and dogs unaccustomed to these temperatures. The few minutes your pets are outside playing is entirely different from pets left outside with no shelter or areas to be protected.

Is you see something SAY SOMETHING. Please call your local PD to report any animal related calls

Cold weather tips for pups regarding salt, ice and snow:

Paw injuries: Jagged ice, sharp hidden objects in the snow, or abrasive salt crystals can be painful and cause injury, such as cuts, to your dog’s sensitive paw pads.

Cracked or chapped paws: The dry winter air and cold temperatures can dry out paw pads, leading to painful cracks and sore paws. Sidewalk salts and de-icers can cause abrasions and even chemical burns!

Toxin ingestion: Many pets lick their paws after a romp in the snow. They could be at risk for serious health effects if they have walked through antifreeze, ice-melting agents, or sidewalk salt.

Frostbite: If your pup is out in cold temperatures for too long, they could be at risk for developing painful frostbite.

Tumbles and falls: Icy conditions can lead to accidental trips that could cause trauma or injury

As always, if you see anything contact animal without proper shelter call your local authorities. While we do respond to cases we do not have any type of legal authority outside of when the police call US to come out.
