Depression is like a heavy blanket. It covers all of me, and it’s hard to get up.
But when I am able to come up for air and show up to sunlight, the animals are present, waiting to welcome me home 🌞 🌱 I thank them as often as I can.

I am devastated about the loss of our sweet Jenny 💔 when we got her as a baby duckling she was blind and had neurological issues. We extended her life for about 1 & 1/2 years- made sure she stayed hydrated, fed, loved and was safe. In the end she was having seizures and passed away in her yard by the pond. This is a hard loss for us; the whole atmosphere of the farm is different. She’s buried under her own Weeping Willow tree 🌳

Everything is green again 💚 The grass is coming back, the trees have leaves, and the ducks are the most content. I’m excited to see how much our fruit trees grow this summer. I see a lot of citrus in our future.

We had to say goodbye to our sweet Suess today 💔 We hatched her here on the farm about one year ago.
She had a pretty severe cloacal prolapse from some type of underlying reproductive disease. We worked together with a great team of veterinarians and technicians to try to save her but the trauma was still too bad after a few days in hospital. We didn’t want to make her suffer anymore so she had lots of her favorite snackies and a peaceful ending. 🌈 ⛅️ She will be missed dearly.

Sometimes things get rough and times are hard, but the animals always remain constant. They stay happy in their element and they’re always there to bring joy and tranquility to us when the world seems a bit too much to handle. I love them for that 💜

The girlies have been acting CRAZY when we collect their eggs. They don’t touch the eggs when they’re in the nesting boxes but as soon as we drop one, the whole flock attacks it and they devour the whole thing. I don’t get it 🤷🏽‍♀️

He’s a real turkey now! 🦃

This is turning lemons into lemonade~ Joel dug a huge mud pit right in the middle of our two pear trees so we just dug it a little deeper and turned it into a small duck pond . . Both the pig and ducks are so happy to have this, especially with the heat of summer coming upon us ☀️
