It’s the time of the year, where beloved dogs run off, due to fireworks.
You can’t prevent your neighbors to light the night sky up, but you can prevent your dog from running away!
Here are a few tips!
-Don’t let dogs outside without a leash at any time, day or night. Especially, if your backyard doesn’t look like Alcatraz!
Dogs can climb/jump fences, without an issue! Dogs can fit through small spaces, you can’t even imagine! If the dog’s head fits, the body will follow!
What it means is this: Dogs can and will go through very small openings. The dog in the video, will fit through a 4x6 picture frame opening! Yes! 4”x6” and she jumps 48” high just from standing! Don’t underestimate your dog!
- Make sure your dog is microchipped and the info is up to date!
- Make sure your dog has a collar on, with a name tag showing a valid phone number!
- if your dog usually lives outside, please take him in the house for a couple days!
-if for whatever reasons, neither of this preventative measurements are possible, PLEASE take a sharpie and write your phone number on your dog’s belly!
Many dog owners have great success with a medication called Sileo! Call your vet and ask!
Also compression shirts and loud tv, work wonders!
If you are planning to spend the next few nights, locked up in your bedroom with your animals, take all your blankets and comforters and put them by the wall with the windows. Even hang an old comforter over the window. The batting will absorb sounds and vibration!
