Rusty’s Angels Sanctuary is a 501C3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and caring environment for senior canines. Most of our rescues come to us because their owner has passed away or has moved into a nursing home situation. As long as the dog is healthy enough to handle a transition into a new home then we do our best to find the perfect forever home. If the dog is not healthy e

nough then they live out whatever time they have left here at our sanctuary knowing unconditional love until the very end. Rusty was Emilee’s first rescue, she adopted him at the age of “ancient”. He was pulled from the euthanasia list at the local county pound. He was skin and bones, deaf, going blind, had a mouth full of rotten teeth and so lost and scared. He taught her that animals don’t deserve to die alone after loving us for all their lives. He is why she wants to give these dogs the ending they deserve and have earned. They deserve the unconditional love to the very end that they give us from the moment they meet us. She promised Rusty that she would continue to help those just like him live out their twilight years knowing complete unconditional love.

Tyson is just so excited to thank our January Amazon Angels he couldn't even wait until the end of the month! We are so grateful to: MaryKay Benner, Kim Leubner and the Sunset Ridge School, Maria Hillgartner and a few folks who donated dry and wet food but chose to remain anonymous.

An Amazon Angel is a generous person who went to our RAS wish list on Amazon and purchased items for the dogs! Those items get directly shipped to us. It can be anything from pill pockets, leashes, food, cleaning supplies, etc. We have listed items we need to keep our sanctuary clean and the dogs healthy and happy.

If you want to make Tyson keep jumping for joy by doing the same, here's a link to our wish list. If you can not do so yourself, sharing the post helps a bunch too. THANK YOU!!!!

Super Dooper Cooper was nervous but a VERY good boy for his check up at Daisy Mountain Veterinary Hospital yesterday. He was due for his vaccines so we made sure he had an overall exam, bloodwork, as well as some medication to help manage some minor skin issues. He's a healthy guy.
Everyone at the sanctuary LOVES this boy. He lives for sitting calmly in a lap and will gently place his paw on you when you stop petting him asking for more affection. When a leash goes on and it's walk time, he turns into the most HAPPY and silly dog on the planet with bounces and barks for joy. He's part of an adoptable bonded pair with the adorable Teddy.

Today is phase one of Vincent’s new beginning… the giant ball & chain mass hanging off his shoulder is being removed. Then we will give him time to recover and decide if the other mass under his shoulder blade muscle can be removed.

Our boy is so amazing and we just want him to have a normal life without his ball and chain. Pray for him and donate if you can. We want to thank Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911) for giving us a $650 grant towards his medical care. As you may understand all of his care will be much more than that, so every dollar helps.

Once bloodwork is done we will sedate to trim his face. He wasn’t a big fan of that but other than that he is such a loving boy! 😍🐾❤️

And our last babe of 2024 is sweet Vincent. He is Rusty’s Angel # 435.

Vincent came into our email last week right before a Christmas as a stray at Humane. He went on a 72 hour hold to see if any owners came forward but in the meantime we said we would commit to him.

We were notified a few days ago that the owners did come forward but ultimately decided to surrender him to Humane.
The main reason we wanted to save this boy is because of a nasty neglected mass on what we thought was his leg. But after picking him up today I realized it’s a mass that has grown off his shoulder and that he has been carrying around for a very long time. It has to weigh around 2 pounds.

What is the most amazing thing is that you would never know this dog was in any discomfort. He is happy and loving and loves laps and butt scritches.

We are so so thankful he is now with us here at Rusty’s Angels. And we promise to do everything we can to make this babe more comfortable starting with bloodwork to see if he can go under anesthesia for surgical removal.

The odd thing is he has had an eye removed at some point in his life so why someone would pay for that surgery but then allow this monster to grow is beyond me.

All I know for sure is we love Vincent already and hope that someday in the near future he will be healthy enough for adoption.

We want to thank Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911) for giving us a grant for $650 towards his medical care. We are so grateful.

Welcome home Vincent welcome home!

Help us welcome our 2nd to last rescue of 2024. This is Rusty’s Angel # 434, Roxy.

Sadly her momma had to surrender her because she could not afford a place on her own right now. Her husband just up and left and left her with no money and no options. Roxy’s momma thankfully, will get to go live with family but the option to bring Roxy with her just wasn’t possible.

Roxy is a beautiful 10 year old Shepherd mix and after loving her for 9 years, to say this was such a hard decision, is an understatement.

It took a few days for Barney to adjust to his new girlfriend wanting to be in charge but finally today he accepted her. They are now going to be the best of friends.

Welcome home Roxy welcome home!

Our last 2 saves of 2024…stay tuned for their stories.
