About the Artist:
Dawn Townsend is a graduate of The Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore, Maryland(1981) where she concentrated in painting and drawing. After college she worked for several years as a graphic artist before taking time off to raise a family. While she managed to take an occasional class or workshop and produce a few paintings a year, she began working more consistently once th
e youngest of her children went off to college. In June of 2011, Dawn had a show with 21 works at The Water's Edge Gallery in Berlin, Maryland, successfully selling many of her paintings. That summer, she also entered a Plein Air event sponsored by the Art League of Ocean City (Maryland) and won first place. Dawn relocated to New Smyrna Beach, Florida (an artists dream) in February of 2012 where she continues to develop her artistic vision. More of her artwork is on display at The Hub on Canal in New Smyrna Beach. Inspiration for Pet Scapes:
Jade is Dawn's 12 year old chocolate lab who lives with her in New Smyrna Beach. When Jade was a puppy, Dawn rescued her from the pound. In 2010, a close friend and fellow dog lover asked Dawn to paint her golden retriever, Jenny. After the positive feedback she received, Dawn decided to combine her passion for art and animals and launch Pet Scapes. She now works from her home studio and hopes to broaden her service beyond her friends circle. Make sure you send a picture of your pet(s) and any special requests you may have. If you live in the New Smyrna Beach area, a photo shoot is included with the painting price upon request. You may also ask to be sent pictures throughout the painting process. Once completed and fully dried, we will ship to any address in the US.
