These pictures are from when I was a clinical instructor at the University of Adelaide's Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Students are lucky to be exposed to Acupuncture and Chiropractic modalities early in their career path with this now being a more common practice in equine veterinary medicine.

Lip curling isn’t a typical response but definitely a good one!
Chiropractic treatments help restore the body’s normal range of motion and balance and can help reduce pain and inflammation by stimulating the nervous system. Depending on their condition and response, acupuncture may be recommended in combination. This can be discussed at the time of treatment.

Acupuncture is typically used in cases such as muscle soreness including back and neck pain, muscle weakness, inflammation, and poor performance. Some other conditions treated are anhidrosis (non-sweating), poor fertility, nerve damage, and behavioral issues. Acupuncture helps keep the body in balance and restore the body's ability to heal. It is considered performance enhancing and is beneficial in maintaining a healthy horse especially during show season.
Here we have Karlos with slight asymmetry of his hindquarters. He received electroacupuncture over a series of treatments which aided his rehab and put him back in balance.
Dr. McLeod has 20 years of experience with conventional western medicine and 15 years of integrating acupuncture in her treatment regimen. She is happy to work with your current veterinarian on any cases that need conventional treatment.

I am excited to by back in my hometown of New Smyrna Beach, Florida offering equine acupuncture and chiropractic services to clients in the Volusia and surrounding county areas (please enquire for further distances). I spent a few years in North Carolina and Brandon, Florida before moving overseas to New Zealand and Australia. I enjoyed everything about the experience and miss it and everyone already. Before my travels I attended the Chi University and Options for Animals to become certified in veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic through the IVCA - International Veterinary Chiropractic Association. My practice is currently limited to these services. Please fill out the new client registration form if you would like to book an appointment.
