This Valentine’s season, we’re making love connections—one wagging tail at a time! Join us for "Love is Blind: The Adoption Edition", a special matchmaking event where you’ll meet your future furry soulmate sight unseen! We've selected some wonderful canine candidates for this special matchmaking event - and we'll be sharing more candidates throughout the week!

Here's how it works - Adopters will be able to look at the descriptions of each dog candidate and see if they connect with anyone based solely on personality. If they do, a counselor will go over the full biography in more detail and then adopters will meet their match. If they choose to adopt after their blind date interaction, the adoption fee will be waived! Dog license fee and potential spay/neuter depost fee still apply.

This event will be held only at Queens ACC from 2/9 - 2/15. Come meet your valentine today!

She had been found on the BQE – she had just had puppies, and she was kind of a mess, but she’s living the good life now. I grew up with a miniature Dachshund named Rosie, so I’ve always loved the lowriders, and I love Pits. She’s really kind of anchored me. I do a lot of hiking, and she took to it immediately. A volunteer writes: Bunny was found wandering around an apartment building for three days. Finding a forever family sometimes comes in steps, but Bunny seems to want to hop over there right away. We can't say she's been much of a fan of the middle stages. We know it's just one short stop on her way to something better, but we've been working hard to persuade Bunny to give it a try. For our part we've been trying everything in hopes of helping her find her stride because we don't know much about Bunny's likes and dislikes prior to coming to the Care Center. Luckily she's been accepting of pets and treats. Bunny seems to prefer the coziness of her den and though hardly the most conducive to meeting new people, she's trying her best to keep herself comfortable. We hope that someone will scoop up this kitty and give her the chance she needs to be her best kitty self.

Charlie is adoptable at Queens ACC!

Charlie was found similarly to a lot of our dogs, tied up without any information about where he came from. Eventually, the police came and untied Charlie, and they said he was friendly and hopped in the car with the officers for a ride. Charlie has been a little shut down at the shelter, nervous and stressed to show his whole heart. The bits of his personally he has shown us have been nothing but sweet as sugar. He is social and wiggly, gentle and social. Charlie is undeniably handsome, with the classic big head, white chest, pink nose and floppy ears that we all swoon over. A volunteer writes: We have the ultimate snuggly teddy bear up for adoption. Zion is an 8 year old handsome, affectionate, and irresistible man. Zion came to us when his owner did not want to care for him anymore. Zion has been gentle taking snacks, and we have all noticed he enjoys sitting on laps! He appreciates belly rubs and head rub. He had lived with his previous owner for 6 months, and we aren't sure what the previous 8 years entailed. He did spend time around kids of all ages and did well with them, but prefers to keep space from other animals. He likes to spend time where his people are, and everything we have seen of him at the shelter confirms that.

Some of us don’t mind being single, in fact, some of us prefer it! The same can hold true of dogs in the shelter. There are some dogs who want to be the only pup in the household. These dogs are great with their humans and have all the love in the world to give to you.
