FOSTER NEEDED!

A few months ago, we worked with a team of rescuers to free several cats who had been trapped inside a shuttered daycare in Sheepshead Bay. One by one, they’ve gone to their new homes — except for Paris.

Paris is a petite, gentle, shy boy who has made so much progress, but he needs a calm foster home to truly come out of his shell. He adores other cats — he chirps and trills at them from his cage and lights up when they’re nearby. Having a friendly resident cat would be a huge comfort to him.

Paris has been waiting the longest, and he really deserves his chance.

If you have patience, a quiet space, and a soft spot for the soft-spoken cats — Paris could really use you. 💛 Link to foster application is in link in bio!

This is a post to honor Charlie — a cat we didn’t share nearly enough of, despite him being part of our rescue family for more than three years.

This is also a post to honor the humans who opened their home and hearts to him as a “fospice” cat — knowing that love would come with loss. And when they realized they had room for one more, they welcomed another terminally ill cat. There are no words for that kind of compassion, and for that we are so grateful.

And this is a plea. Charlie came to us after being outside on the street, suffering with cancer and a variety of other ailments, for way too long. So many people walked by him and did nothing. One person stopped and did something.

I regret not sharing more of Charlie before we said goodbye. He was a gentle, beautiful old soul who was lucky enough to spend what should have been only months—but turned into years—in the most loving home.

There are so many Charlies out there: seniors, sick cats, overlooked cats—cats who simply need someone to choose them. Please don’t turn your back on them.

Rest in peace, Charlie. We love you.

TFW you haven’t posted on Instagram in 5 days and gotta make sure it’s safe …👀

Shrimp Scampi was one of more than 30 cats and kittens living behind an Italian waterfront restaurant and neighboring city-owned properties in Williamsburg. (Could be more than 40 or closer to 50… we don’t know yet.)

It’s an ongoing project and a reminder of how quickly a few cats can turn into MANY cats when spay/neuter isn’t practiced and prioritized. (Neither the restaurant nor the proprietors of the City property are prioritizing what we are working so hard to practice - spay / neuter of the cat. More on that later.)

Shrimp Scampi is now safe indoors and getting used to the good life in foster with temp — one cozy hiding spot at a time !
He and his cousin / sister / buddy Pastina will need a new foster - or adopter ! - next week. Apply to foster or adopt ! Link to application in bio

She doesn’t have a name yet but she did learn a valuable lesson: if you escape your crate (twice) and find a hole behind the sink to hide in and THEN recruit other kittens to join you in the sink-hole and THEN get stuck behind the fridge, requiring your foster to use the jaws of life (a wrench, actually, but not everyone is great with tools, ok?) to extract you …the punishment is a trip to the vet in a Halloween costume.

How it started: someone noticed a “FREE CATS” sign outside of a local warehouse. The owners - who started with two cats and now had four - were intending to give away two adolescent kittens to anyone who would take them. The finder explained to the owners the importance of spay / neutering the entire family - especially before handing off the kittens who were old enough to have kittens of their own.

How it’s going: the owners decided they really didn’t want any of the cats. We spayed and vetted all four. Three still need homes. “Crepe Suzette” is a one-year old tortie love bug who prefers to be the only cat. Daughter “Soufflé” is equally affectionate and described as “more puppy than cat” by her foster.
Not pictured: daughter “Flapjack” - the only black kitten of the family. Flappy had minimal interaction with her caretakers so she needs a lot of socializing before she’s ready for adoption. More on her later 🥺 🐈‍⬛

We’ve taken in more than 40 unwanted cats and kittens from local warehouses this year. Many still need homes. Many end up roaming beyond the warehouse to reproduce and add to our growing cat overpopulation crisis. It’s a real problem that we hope more neighbors, businesses, and city agencies will help address—through spay/neuter, responsible feeding, and collaboration to stop the cycle of suffering before it starts.

Kittens, kittens, kittens! You want em, we got ‘em.
Introducing … CRÈME BRÛLÉE !

Crème Brûlée is a spunky kitten who plays till she’s panting and then in your lap for some lovin. She’s got a big addiction to Churu and an even bigger personality. She loves wrestling with her kitten foster brother Bay Crane Dwayne The Rock Johnson and big girl foster sister Grape. Her dream job is a toss up between becoming a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader or a Dallas Cowboys Kicker. Either way, she’s high energy, busy, and the crowd favorite for prom queen.

Creme Brûlée is available to a home with another playful cat or kitten. Don’t have one ? No problem - we can pair her!

To see more of Creme Brûlée and her foster brother Bay Crane Dwayne the Rock and foster sister, Grape - be sure to follow !

Big Airplane & Small Airplane ✈️ are two of 15+ cats and kittens we discovered living in the bushes and green space next to a traffic circle at JFK airport. We don’t usually trap at airports but when someone sent us a video of a mom and kittens at this spot, we decided to go “check it out” with our friends

That was late July and so far we’ve taken in eight kittens, two adults, and TNRd many others who are too feral to be adopted, but at least the colony wont continue to grow if we can spay/neuter everyone.

Big Airplane (male) and Small Airplane (female) are two of the luckier kittens we were able to rescue and are now available for adoption! Follow their foster to see more - and consider adopting their foster brother Brown Puddle, too!

… and how was your Monday?

We’re working on a new project on the South Williamsburg waterfront.
It’s a lot. And when I say “a lot” I mean around 30+ cats and kittens. Stay tuned.

It’s been a hard week, but we can celebrate some wins — like seeing Dilly (aka Wilson) out of the hospital and back in his foster home, where he’ll continue treatment for FIP. For a few days, it was truly touch and go, and we weren’t sure he’d pull through. But he did.

We’re so grateful for the care he’s received and for everyone who rallied behind him. Your support gave Dilly a fighting chance, and we can’t wait to see him keep getting stronger.

We love you Dilly! To follow his recovery journey, you can also follow
