Checking in with BIG ANGE šŸ„ā¤ļø

Recap: We rescued Big Ange from a smoke shop where she was in a bad state (swipe to end for before pics). When we took the obese and matted Ange to the vet to be groomed, they found a mammary tumor that was later removed along with her entire mammary chain. Unfortunately,, the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes. Given the odds, we decided against subjecting her to additional treatments and surgeries.

Good thing cats are resilient and canā€™t read medical reports because as far as Ange is concerned - life has never been better! She spends her days napping in the sun and indulging in long grooming sessions which were impossible before she lost a few pounds.

Big Ange gets check ups every few months to monitor her health and she has a fospice mom who adores her unconditionally.

Big Ange is actually one of NINE terminally ill cats of ours that are considered unadoptable because of medical conditions but are happy and loved in fospice homes.

Your support is what helps us help cats like Big Ange ā¤ļø! Thank you!

ā€œDress for the job you want, not the job you have.ā€

Brad is tired of middle management and is now looking to fill the role of Chief Feline Officer (CFO) at your Corpurrate Domestic Headquarters aka your HOME.

As you can see from his headshots, heā€™s a true purrfessional.

To adopt / hire Brad to be part of your family/team see link in bio.

Happy from two of our skatepark colony cats! The left clipped ear (called an ā€œear tipā€) indicates that these sisters have been spayed and vaccinated and will no longer have to endure the hardships of raising kittens on the street.

TNR (trap, neuter, return) of outdoor feral and community cats remains the only humane and effective way to manage feral cat populations while improving the health and well-being of the cats. Unfortunately, without any city funding or support, this essential work falls on small rescue orgs and volunteers (for now).

If you know of outdoor cats in your neighborhood that are not ear tipped - 1) email your council person and explain the problem so they see the need for funding and support 2) take initiative and get TNR certified so you can learn to trap and be part of the solution. Start in your own backyard or on your block !

See link in our bio to sign up for TNR certification classes.

Brad wears a jabot now. Desperate times, desperate measures (to find a forever home).

Brad is around 3 years old and is a lover of people and cats. Heā€™s an easygoing guy who makes himself at home wherever he goes.
Like a lot of male cats whoā€™ve lived on the street, Brad is FIV+ but is in great health now that heā€™s no longer roughing it outdoors.

Apply to adopt Brad!

Siblings Clay and India have come a long way in the past six weeks, thanks to dedicated foster parents who know that it takes time and patience to turn hissy kittens into kissy kittens (scroll to the last two pics to see their intake mug shots)!

Clay will now happily let you cradle him in your arms, while sister India still needs a little more convincing that (most) humans arenā€™t that skeery! šŸ‘»

Both are ready to go to a furever home with adopters that are prepared to continue working to build their confidence and meet them where theyā€™re at ā¤ļø

We ALWAYS need fosters (and adopters!) who are willing to work with shy kittens and adults. The experience is rewarding and unforgettable. Socialization truly saves lives!

Nathan Update!

Our special boy left and is now in a foster home where he can stretch his legs a little in between vet appointments. Because of his heart murmur he will be seeing a cardiologist on Monday and hopefully will be approved for neuter surgery later in the week. Heā€™ll also need follow up vetting and diagnostics so we can get a better understanding of his kidney disease prognosis and treatment plan.

His journey has only begun and we are committed to his care and recovery, whatever that looks like. We couldnā€™t do any of this without your support - THANK YOU for helping us help Nathan (and so many others!)

In honor of , we made a plan to rescue this mom and kittens tomorrow before they become another statistic. Did you know that only 25% of kittens that are born outdoors will survive past six months ?

We already rescued one cat from this location whose kittens all passed away within a few weeks of being born. We want to give these kittens - and their mom - a chance to live the good life.

We plan to rescue mom and kittens tomorrow and will need foster homes for them asap. Can you help? Link to application in bio!

Canā€™t foster? Consider sponsoring their vetting and care by donating to our kitten season fundraiser!

Pixie update: sheā€™s in a foster home and is thriving! šŸˆā€ā¬› Rescued last week, this young petite beauty was very unhappy in a space with other cats and we were desperate to find her a foster home where she could relax as the only cat. Our pleas were heard and a foster came through! šŸ„³

Pixie is about a year old and is ready for a home where she can be the only feline friend to the resident humans šŸˆā€ā¬›šŸ„°

Sometimes it takes time, patience and the flexibility to try different environments before deciding a cat is feral and canā€™t live indoors. Pixie needed our time, patience and willingness to figure her out - and we think we have !

ISUZU Update: he still needs a foster!

Today Isuzu went for a cardiologist appointment after initial tests showed his heart to be under a lot of stress.

Long story short: heā€™s on meds for his heart and we need to continue to assess him and provide supportive care and nutritional supplements to figure out the bigger diagnostic picture and treatment plan.

Heā€™s a shy old boy who needs someone with patience to build his trust in humans while also letting him rest, relax and refuel ! He needs daily meds that go in his food (easy). He likes other cats and can be in a home with others.

We are still fundraising to cover his vet bills and appreciate even $5 toward todayā€™s visit which was $800+

Please out if youā€™re interested in fostering Isuzu, or send us an application - link in bio !

Rest easy, baby boy.

LeBron is with the angels now. šŸ’”šŸŒˆ

Despite all efforts to save him, we had to accept that there was no chance to turn things around and he was likely suffering from something neurological - possibly a severe head trauma. His brief rebound gave us hope but sadly that s***k and energy and will to live could not overcome the severity of his condition. After consulting with several vets and wishing for a miracle recovery, we made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize our little fighter to end his suffering rather than prolong it.

This is never not heartbreaking. The feeling of ā€œif only we got him soonerā€ or ā€œif only the neighbors would work with us to spay and neuter the cats they feed to prevent this pattern of heartbreak and suffering.ā€

Right now we are focusing on the latter and are trying to convince the feeder who handed over LeBron to also let us help the rest of his family - by rescuing the remaining kittens and spay / neutering the adults. So far, he is not being cooperative and itā€™s extremely frustrating, knowing there are four more kittens living in the same conditions that LeBron was in. We wonā€™t give up.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to fund our ongoing work which is even more backbreaking during kitten season. Your support saves lives and makes it possible for us to give kittens like LeBron a chance.

Rescue in progressā€¼ļøWe got an email this morning about a litter of kittens living behind a bodega in south Williamsburg and one is very, very sick. This is kitten season: So many kittens being born, and so many struggling to survive. As rescuers with no city funding or support, we are scrambling to keep up - logistically, financially, emotionally.

Someone from our team is there now to collect the sick kitten and rush it to

We will keep you updated.

We love this pic of Winnie ā¤ļø Sheā€™s one of Greenpointā€™s many senior community cats who wouldnā€™t be enjoying her golden years without your support! Thanks to our donors and volunteers, Winnie received essential medical care, allowing her to return outdoors to be with her friends! (As a feral cat who is afraid of people, Winnie is not interested in sharing a home with humans and we respect her decision.)

Winnie is part of a colony of a dozen or so cats thatā€™s cared for by a small team of volunteers in an industrial area of Greenpoint. More volunteers are needed to keep this colony fed and healthy. A car is required unless by chance you live close enough to walk/bike. Email us if interested and we can provide more details, or fill out a volunteer application - link in bio!
