Kody, a distinguished elder cat, has always taken his time warming up to new people—sometimes weeks or even longer. His human mom, who is his whole world, spent two years earning his trust before he would cuddle with her or sleep by her side. It's a testament to the deep bond they share.

Recently, Kody and I have made some heartwarming progress. He now sits near me, engages in playful games with his favorite bird-sounding toy and laser light, and has even started to anticipate our interactions. One of the sweetest moments was Kody waiting eagerly for me to come out of the room so we could play laser together.

During our time together, I tell Kody how much his mom misses him and loves him, and I also express how much I care for him. These little breakthroughs, like him learning my routine and eagerly watching as I prepare his meals, make each visit truly special. Seeing him enjoy these moments of joy reminds me why patience and love are so important when building trust with elder cats.

Hello, fellow cat lovers!

Here’s a purrfectly adorable update from Misch, the resident messy redhead. Misch, known for his impressive food-tossing skills, turns every mealtime into a miniature food fight. And believe me, he loves watching me clean up his “artistic” food spills. I’m starting to think he sees the vacuum cleaner as his personal entertainment show—he practically applauds when I’m on cleaning duty. We sure don’t want hairballs taking center stage!

Tonight’s dinner was chicken and gravy, which Misch scarfed down like a true connoisseur. Still, his heart belongs to the chicken-tuna mix from Frisky. After a bit of gourmet indulgence, I cracked open his room window just enough to let in a refreshing evening breeze.

As I entered the room, Misch was busy narrating his day through a series of enthusiastic meows. He regaled me with tales of the neighbor’s dog, the nightly parade of passing cars, and the neighborhood’s evening walkers. But the highlight of his evening was the arrival of a beautiful white and black stray cat. Here’s a glimpse into the life of one of my fun cat sitter and house sitter tasked with keeping up with the king’s nocturnal whims.

Story:

As a professional cat sitter, I’ve seen it all—except for this. There I was, blissfully asleep when Kody, the house’s distinguished elder cat, decided it was time for our nightly ritual. He is sitting outside my room meowing at me (I'm a light sleeper). The clock struck 3:00 a.m., and with a gaze that could only be described as imperious, Kody peered at me from his royal new spot.

Kody’s Treadmill Takeover: An Elder Cat’s Adventure

Hey everyone,

It’s Kody here, and I’ve got a little story to share! As you know, I’m a bit of an old soul, but even an elder cat like me can have a mischievous streak. Today, I decided that the treadmill wasn’t just for walking—it was my new playground!

When my human cat sitter started putting out my favorite cat toys for her to play with me and my brothers, I couldn’t resist the temptation to show her my skills. I leaped onto the treadmill, but why is it off? Well I began my own “catwalk.” My human cat sitter was understandably surprised, but I was in my element, strutting back and forth as if I were on a runway. The slow-moving belt wasn't on but I still can strut my handsome self. I was perfect for my leisurely pace, and I might have even tried to convince my human cat sitter that I was training for a feline marathon.

After a few minutes of my impromptu performance, I gracefully exited the treadmill, leaving my human cat sitter both amused and a bit bewildered. I think I’ve officially made treadmill time a new part of my daily routine—who knew exercise could be so entertaining?

Hello everyone!

Today was extra special for Misch, as he got a new addition to his toy collection—a fluffy Lamb Chop stuffed toy! Now, Misch is still getting used to his new environment and home.

When I introduced the adorable Lamb Chop to Misch, his eyes widened with pure excitement. He gave it a few cautious sniffs before tentatively tapping it with his paw. It was as if he was saying, "What have we here?" Within moments, Misch was fully invested, hugging the Lamb Chop and even giving it a gentle nuzzle.

He carried the toy around with such pride, as if it were his newfound treasure. Misch seemed to be in a world of his own, snuggling and purring while draped over his new plush buddy. It was the cutest sight—his little tail flicking with contentment as he curled up with his Lamb Chop and then took it to his under the bed hide out.

Every cat needs a special toy to cuddle with, and it’s clear that Lamb Chop has found a forever home with Misch. It’s moments like these that make being a cat sitter so heartwarming.

A quick update from the world of Nugget and his brothers! So, Nugget’s human mommie recently sent a new order of toys and cat food. How’s Nugget reacting? Well, let’s just say the toys and food have been given the royal ignore. Nugget took one look at them, gave a bored sniff, and immediately claimed the box they came in as his personal kingdom.

He’s absolutely in his element—playing king of the box, turning it into a fortress, hideout, and sometimes a bed. His brothers are thoroughly enjoying the show, taking turns peeking in, lounging around, and trying to fit in the box with him. It’s quite the spectacle!

While the toys and food are gathering dust, Nugget’s box is the true star of the show. Sometimes, the simplest things bring the most joy!

I am admiring the little mess maker’s zest for life.

Misch, affectionately known as "my little messy red head," had a particular knack for turning his mealtime into an adventure. Every morning, afternoon and evening making sure his dry food feeder is full and his bowl is full with dry food, expecting it to be consumed neatly and efficiently. But Mish had other plans.

With a gleeful twinkle in his eyes, Misch approached his food bowl, his tail swishing in anticipation. As soon as his paw touched the kibble, he sent it scattering across the rug like confetti at a celebration. To Misch, it wasn’t just about eating—it was about the thrill of the mess, the excitement of the scatter, and the pure joy of creating a mini food fiesta.

Though initially exasperated by the daily cleanup, I couldn’t help but smile at Misch’s antics. Each scattered kibble was like a tiny reminder of Misch’s playful spirit. It was as if he was saying, “Look how much fun I’m having!” And truly, his delight was infectious. I love his cute behavior.

Misch: A New Adventure - A New Home

In the charming town of Whiskerville, there lived a distinguished red-and-white tabby named Misch. At twelve years old, he had earned the title of "Elder of Them All," known for his dignified demeanor and a touch of mischief. Misch had recently settled into a new home, embarking on a delightful adventure of warming up to his own surroundings.

The first few days were filled with cute peek-a-boos and strange new smells to him that left Misch feeling a bit out of sorts. With Kody "The Head Cat", Nugget and Loki "The Young Twins".
But being a clever feline, he quickly set out to explore his own new personal domain of a big room of his own. One step at a time to make small adjustments.

Today this sunny afternoon, he discovered a perfect spot on the king bed to look out a window. It was a cozy nook drenched in golden sunlight, ideal for watching the world go by. Misch would lounge there for a few hours, observing fluttering birds and the occasional curious neighbor, all while imagining himself as the king of his bustling kingdom.

Sunbathing became one of Misch’s favorite activities. He would stretch luxuriously, soaking in the warmth like a loaf of freshly baked bread. With every ray that hit him, a little spark of mischief twinkled in his eyes, as he saw a butterfly on the other side of the window.

He gazed at me as I opened the door to his little kingdom to give him a few snacks for being a good boy and just so adorable.

Mealtime was another highlight of Misch’s new life. He discovered Captain's Choice Friskies, and it was love at first whiff. The moment I gave him his bowl of food that his daddy human left for him to eat. That delightful aroma filled the air, drawing him to his food bowl to take only a few bites. With a dignified leap, he settled in, savoring each bite. “Ah, a splendid blend of fish and something deliciously mysterious!” he thought, his white whiskers twitching in delight.

Misch also enjoyed the little affection from me, but he had a strict policy on how much petting was acceptable and he is still getting used to me visiting him and his new kingdom. He likes a few gentle strokes behind his ears and neck, and he would indulge them momentarily, relishing the attention. But just as I got into a rhythm, he’d flick his tail, signaling, “Thank you, human, but I have sunbathing duties to attend to and to watch the outside world.”

I told him his daddy, family and friends all love him very much. I told him I will see him in a while for his dinner and some love. I told him I love him and to enjoy his window time and will see you later.
