Cats + Holiday Plants = A Curious Combo 🎄🐾
If your cat is curios, at anything green becomes an instant snack. This time of year, that curiosity often turns toward festive indoor plants—some of which can cause tummy upset or worse.
🎍 Common Holiday Plants to Watch Out For:
• Poinsettias: Mildly toxic—can cause drooling, vomiting, or irritation
• Lilies: Extremely dangerous for cats; even small amounts can lead to kidney failure
• Mistletoe & Holly: May cause vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy
• Amaryllis: Can trigger stomach upset and changes in behavior
• Christmas Trees (pine needles): Can irritate the mouth and stomach if chewed
😼 Signs Your Cat May Have Nibbled Something Unsafe:
• Drooling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Pawing at the mouth
• Sudden lethargy
• Refusing food
• Changes in balance or behavior
💡 What You Can Offer Safely:
Cat-safe greens like wheatgrass or cat grass (as seen in this video!) are a great alternative for curious nibblers.
