Let's talk wholesale!

Wholesale is a great way to purchase flowers from Sol Patch on a regular more large-scale basis! If you join our email list (link in bio) you will gain access to an exclusive flower marketplace just for our wholesale vendors! Every Thursday during our growing season we post the blooms we have available, and our wholesale clients can place their orders up to three weeks in advance!

This is a great option for florists, restaurants/cafes, event hosts, and more! If you are someone who would love to incorporate fresh locally grown flowers into your business this year, join the list!

We are excited to announce our job openings for the 2025 season! This year we are hiring two part time positions; Flower Farm Hand and Bloomfield Market Assistant!

These positions are not mutually exclusive! You can apply to both for 35+ hours/week.

👩‍🌾 Flower Farm Hand (April-mid December) 6:15-4p Wednesdays & Fridays

Main responsibilities include: seed sowing, transplanting, weeding, mulching, mowing, harvesting, pest/disease control, deadheading, invoicing, bouquet arranging, fall clean up

Compensation:
$15/hour (commensurate with experience), pay is bi-weekly
$30 value of weekly flowers/tomatoes/herbs (whatever we grow on the farm)
$125 stipend for uniform/work clothes
5% bonus of annual salary, given at end of farm season
Daily access to espresso machine

👩‍🌾 Bloomfield Market Assistant (May-mid December) 6:45a-1:45p 3 Saturdays/month

Main responsibilities include: loading flowers for market from farm in Braddock and helping transport, setting up market display, representing the farm at the market, checking out customers using Square POS, breaking down display at end of day

Compensation:
$15/hour, pay is weekly

Spring is officially only 41 days away, and we are feeling frisky!

Let's talk about our favorite way to get flowers into your hands... our DIY Bulk Buckets!!! 👩‍🌾

These are buckets filled with between 80-100 stems of greens, fillers, and blooms in the color family of your choice. This is a great deal for any type of party you may be planning... weddings, showers, anniversaries... We want to make your dreams come true! 💐

You can use your own buckets or rent ours, and pick up your flowers from our Braddock farm 3 days before your event! We love getting to meet you and show off our garden, and then watching you leave with a trunk filled with local flowers! It's the best! 🥰

One of the most frequent questions we get asked is "Which flowers will you have in (fill in the month here)". Our growing season runs from April to the first frost (which could be as late as November), and there are different flowers that bloom throughout the season. We put this graphic together to help familiarize you with the flowers we grow and when they are in bloom!

Last field day for 2024!! That’s a wrap!!

killing it on the , Tilling in the snow on this post apocalyptic today. Our soil is (mostly) fine with it cuz we farm on river bed soil that is basically all sand and stone.

We love making everything all tidy and clean before the new year. We’re giving ourselves a jump start here for spring! Sulfur down, 12 yards of compost down, tulips tucked in, eucalyptus covered, overwintered flowers seeded, tractor loaded for winter storage. ✅✔️✅✔️✅✔️✅

If you’re in town looking for some flowers on the go, you can find our everlasting arrangements in 2 of our most favorite small businesses . and . Both are businesses started in Braddock tahn. It’s kinda s*k. There’s food, there’s beverages, there’s hand - forged every day wearable metals and beyond. I’m so thankful to be surrounded by so many admirable small businesses. This process is long and hard and requires constant flexibility whether we like it or not. So I commend everyone I know in the arena. We’re all just out here doing our best. And fingers crossed these flowers offer a little bit of color this time of year

Here’s my face for the algorithm. Mostly just here to say thank everyone for being such wonderful loyal customers. Tomorrow is our last day of the season (for us) at market. We will have SO many fresh cut Mum bouquets in addition to our everlasting bouquets, potpourri, dried wreaths (I wish I had more pics they’re stunning but you can see them at market!), and ornaments . Whether you’re hosting or attending a thanksgiving festivity, we have something beautiful to help brighten your table.

We SO appreciate you all, and can’t wait to get some of the last of our flower offerings to good homes.

& I will see you in the morning ~ 9-1pm!

SOL PATCH GARDEN

Sol Patch Garden is a small scale urban flower farm in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We’ve been growing flowers in Pittsburgh since 2017. We concentrate on growing a diverse variety of annual cut flowers. Our goal is to grow flowers that are accessible for all people. Currently we have two operating field sites, one 1/4 acre in Braddock and another 1/2 acre in the Hilltop. During the growing season we offer fresh cut flowers for farmers markets, florists, and special orders. As the season transitions to the fall, we shift our operation to dried flowers.
