It was a BIG day for our Blood Bank, we performed our first cat donation🩸🐈

Today’s and our honorary first feline donation is Jaxon! Jaxon came in dressed to impress for the occasion in his hoodie and he is definitely a fan of the Churu treats. His donation enables us to save the lives of TWO cats in need!

A special Thank You to his mom who has two of her pets enrolled in our program - Jaxon and .pawfect.life 🫶🏻

Zale came in with his mom to donate for his very FIRST time and was a star!

Fun Fact-Zale was originally meant to be a Guide Dog, but was deemed too timid and you would never know it because he is absolutely perfect! 🫶🏻

Today’s is Rivvy! This star girl came in with her mom for her FIRST blood donation and she was absolutely perfect!

Rivvy is so photogenic and absolutely LOVES people. She is currently enrolled in a program to become a certified Therapy Dog and she’s now a lifesaver too- we can’t think of a better combination!🫶🏻

Today’s is NOLA! This most perfect girl came in today with her mom who is one of our Critical Care Specialists. She donated blood for her fourth time, bringing her total lives saved to TWELVE! When Nola is excited she tap dances and it brings a smile to everyone’s face. 🫶🏻

Everyone meet Zale! Zale came in today with his mom to be screened to be our next . He came dressed to impress in his bow tie and showed us his plethora of tricks that mom has taught him.

We love him just as much as he loves food and treats! 🦴🤤🫶🏻

These four were all a vital part in helping provide EIGHT life saving blood products to a patient in need.

Belle suffered from IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), an autoimmune disease where the body attacks its own red blood cells. Often times many blood transfusions are necessary to help stabilize them during hospitalization. After 5 days in our ICU, Belle was discharged back home to her family 🫶🏻This would not have been possible without this team of heroes!

TOM and RILEY are for at our sister hospital in and STEFFIE and AUGGY are two of our very own favorites! Sometimes it takes a village! 🐕‍🦺🩸🦮

Todays is Auggy! Auggy came in with his dad to donate blood for his second time!

Besides all of the love and attention he gets when he comes in to donate, his absolute favorite part is picking his toy from our toy basket🧸🦴

With Thanksgiving around the corner we are beyond grateful to all of our donors and their families for helping us provide these lifesaving blood products to animals in need! 🫶🏻

Everyone meet Waffle! 🧇
Waffle came in with her mom through the Emergency Department at as a transfer from her primary veterinarian, for being lethargic and not eating a few days after receiving vaccines.

Initial bloodwork revealed anemia severe enough to require TWO blood transfusions. Both of these life saving transfusions were from a single blood donation volunteered by our very own Alaska (pictured in the last slide).

Because of Alaskas life saving blood donation and her family volunteering her to our program, Waffle is back home snuggling up with her mom where she belongs! 🫶🏻

He was adopted from as a puppy and his dad describes him as a “dog whisperer” because he gets along with every dog he meets. 🫶🏻

Todays is our stylish Steffie. She came in today to donate for her THIRD time, making her total lives saved NINE!!

Steffie’s Mom is an LVT and she wanted to celebrate ✨VET TECH WEEK ✨by contributing with a life saving blood donation.

Todays is Barnes! Barnes came in bright and early with his mom who is one of our Emergency Veterinarians. This boy would do absolutely anything for food and his ears are the best 🫶🏻

Todays is Waldo Draddy! Waldo came to work with his dad who is one of our Oncologists and he donated for his very first time. He heard that the Blood Bank room has the best treats, so he pulled out all of his tricks! 🪄

We are truly grateful to all of our donors and their families; it’s because of them that we can continue to provide life saving blood products to pets in need. 🫶🏻

Yesterday we had one of our UNIVERSAL DONORS Rudy 🌟 come in to save some lives! Rudy is already a professional life-saver. Her second time around she gave us extra wiggle-butts for treats and new toys! She went with RV squeaker toy and brought it right to her mom to show it off! Thanks Rudy for being a shining !!!

Everyone meet Peggy Parker! Peggy Parker came in today with her mom to be screened to be part of our lineup.

Peggy Parker came in to her moms previous clinic at 10 weeks old and she has had her ever since. Peggy is one of two cat tripods in our program! She loves to crawl like a spider, hence the name choice- think Peter Parker 😉

Peggy lives with her sister cat named Shadow Soxx and a canine of ours…Tiny but mighty Tw***ie!! 🫶🏻

Kaia came in today with her mom to donate for the very first time! She heard we needed to stock up for the holiday weekend and she said sign me up! 💪🏼🩸

She even had a special visit from her boyfriend who is a for ! These two are definitely fan favorites🫶🏻

✨EVERYBODY MEET POSSUM✨

You guys remember Sophie (last slide) from last week? Well, she came in for a recheck today with our Internal Medicine service and was accompanied by her sister Possum🥹 Mom and dad knew that without the voluntary blood donation from Ahsoka last week, Sophie may not have been in such a great place today. So, they decided since Possum is healthy and happy, that they would love to pay it forward and screen her to potentially be a !

According to mom and dad, Possum is their “Velcro dog.” She must be sitting on you at all times and all attention must be given to her😂 She loves to go hiking and can’t wait until Sophie is back to being 100% so that they can play together again!

Todays is none other than Barnes!!

This rescued island dog is owned by one of our Emergency Veterinarians who is often times on the receiving end of sick pets in need of a blood transfusion.

Barnes donated for the FIRST time today and he realized just how many treats he gets for saving lives and he’s all about it!! We are sure this boy will be a fan favorite! 🫶🏻

Everyone meet Baloo! Baloo came in to be screened to be part of our lineup. Baloo comes from the same household as his brother Bagheera (pictured in the last slide) who spoiler alert….qualified to be a blood donor!

These two boys were an unexpected addition to their home. Their human mom found their cat mom outside of a deli and took her home not knowing she was pregnant and SURPRISE Baloo and Bagheera were born. These two boys are so sweet that they then landed their forever home! Look at them now 🫶🏻

We couldn’t celebrate World Blood Donor Day without a blood donation! 🩸

Welcome Luma to our lineup of ! Today was her FIRST blood donation and she absolutely crushed it.

Luma was adopted from and she was named by her younger human sister. Her name means “LIGHT” and not only is she the light of their family but she’s also a lifesaver now! 🥹💡

We truly could not save as many lives without our and their owners who trust us with their beloved pets. 🫶🏻

Meet Lola! Lola came to our hospital for an acute episode of severely elevated liver enzymes. The liver plays a key role in blood coagulation. Our staff performed bloodwork which showed that her coagulation was impaired enough to require a plasma transfusion. The plasma that she received was available to us from a volunteer #donorhero.
