It's almost that magical time or year again where we take time to celebrate zookeepers. In celebration of all your hard work, the NYC AAZK has planned socials around New York all week long during National Zookeeper Week. Our main event will take place on Tuesday at Baylander in Harlem. *more info will come out on our social media soon.
In addition, we have our annual silent auction running all week long!

Dr. Anne Innis Dagg re-traces the steps of her groundbreaking 1956 journey to South Africa to study giraffes in the wild – and discovers a startling contrast between the world of giraffes she once knew and the one it has become. Weaving through the past and present, her harrowing journey gives us an intimate look into the factors that destroyed her career and the forces that brought her back.

NYC AAZK is collecting and sending old eclipse glasses to Astronomers Without Borders. If you have an old pair, please reach out to your respective facility representative that will be collecting glasses to send off. Join NYC AAZK as we wrap up on the year, introduce new exec team members for 2024, discuss the upcoming year and have guest speaker Tara Chudoba, manager of professional development for WCS, and an instructor for the Advanced Inquiry Program present to us about the Advanced Inquiry Masters Program, which has been a popular program for keepers across the country. There will be several in person and virtual information sessions for the AIP Masters Program if you are unable to attend the meeting. Below and attached is information about the program. The AAZK meeting will be a hybrid set-up, with an in person component and virtual option.
