Thanksgiving Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Dog

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and while it’s tempting to share the holiday feast with your furry friend, not all foods are safe for dogs. Here are some common Thanksgiving dishes to keep away from your pup:

1. Turkey Bones and Skin
• Bones can splinter, causing choking or internal injuries.
• Fatty turkey skin can upset their stomach or cause pancreatitis.
2. Stuffing and Gravy
• Ingredients like onions, garlic, butter, and heavy spices can be toxic to dogs.
3. Mashed Potatoes
• While plain potatoes are okay, added butter, cream, or garlic can harm your pup.
4. Desserts (Chocolate, Raisins, and Xylitol)
• Chocolate is poisonous to dogs, raisins can cause kidney failure, and artificial sweeteners like xylitol are extremely dangerous.
5. Fatty Foods
• Ham, buttery rolls, or anything greasy can lead to digestive issues or pancreatitis.
6. Alcohol and Caffeinated Drinks
• Even small amounts can be harmful, so keep those drinks out of reach!

If you want to include your dog in the celebration, offer plain turkey meat (no skin, bones, or seasoning) or dog-friendly veggies like carrots or green beans.

One whole year🥹🥹

As i sit back and reflect on this incredible first year, my heart is so full. One year ago, I took a leap of faith hoping to create a place where dogs would feel loved, safe, and at home. Little did I know that this journey would bring so many wonderful people and dogs in my life.

I am endlessly grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me to care for your pups. Your support, kind words, sharing my posts, and love have helped turn a dream into reality, and there aren’t enough “thank you’s” in the world to express how much that means to me.

Because of you, my kennel is officially BOOKED for the holidays- something i never could have imagined when i first opened my doors!⛄️🧡

Vinny was a little bundle of nerves his first couple of nights with me, but seeing him finally settle in, relaxing on the couch like he’s at home, getting used to everyone to.. makes it all worth it! Moments like these are why I love what I do—helping each dog feel comfortable and safe until they can just be themselves. So proud of Vinny for opening up and making himself at home! 🤍🐾🐶 It was fun having him stay with me!
