King is ready for his next journey! His dad was deployed and reached out to Sedona for help with finding King a new home. King has lived with big and small humans, loves to meet new friends and is always ready to play. King is dog friendly, but prefers not to be around kitties. Volunteers call King, "a dream dog." Let's find King a new place to call home for the holidays. Seneca
Marcus is taking a well-deserved vacation for stoic Sunday but wanted to take time to introduce his new friend, Seneca. Seneca came to us from ACCT Philly where he was known as Bagels. This older fella is affectionate, loves to play fetch and would do well in just about any household. (We aren't quite sure about cats.). Head over to the website to learn more about Seneca, who is available for a foster-to-adopt. https://www.sedonashepherd.com/available-dogs-list/seneca
In 2022, at age 16, Bella—formerly known as Sibelle—was seeking a new home after her best friend moved to an Assisted Living facility. We worried her age would hinder finding a forever foster family, but we were mistaken. A loving family opened their hearts to her, adopting her outright, giving Bella a chance to thrive and discover joy again.
She had a new brother, Huckleberry, a playful young German Shepherd, and for the next two years, Bella embraced life surrounded by love.
But as life reminds us of its fragility, at the age of 19, Bella's journey came to an end. Her family was faced with saying goodbye. Bella experienced the love of her first owner and then the embrace of new family that adored her providing her with happiness during her twilight years.
In January 2022, we shared a video of Bella when she first transitioned into foster care, which quickly turned into a forever home. It captured the moment her spirit began to shine once more, and we’ve decided to share it again. This glimpse into her joy and how she fit into her new family shows how happy she was.
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bella's family, who opened their hearts and home to her, who saw beyond her age and recognized the boundless love she had to give. Thank you for giving her a chance, for allowing her to bloom in her golden years. Bella, you will be greatly missed. 💗🐾
Fostering for Sedona is saving the life of a German Shepherd. The highest risk dogs to be euthanized at a shelter are large breed dogs and senior dogs. Sedona Shepherd Sanctuary is the last chance many of these beautiful animals will have to get out of a shelter and into a loving home. #sedonashepherd #fosterme #fosteringsaveslives #gsdforlife #germanshepherdrescue #operationfindstrykerahome
A week after taking Shiloh into our program, Sedona Shepherd, welcomed Theo, a skinny underweight Belgian Malinois that was at a crowded inner city shelter. Prior to being surrendered to the shelter, Theo was spending a lot of time outside and his family didn't really know what to do with him. For a Belgian Malinois, Theo is incredibly easy going, and just loves affection. Within a few days, Theo had to go to NorthStar VETS for two emergency visits. The first for not eating and the second time for some continued intestinal issues. He is doing better, and loves his foster mom and dad who have been helping to put some weight on him. He also has a new best friend Zara. Theo has a followup visit with his regular vet, it is possible he might have Addison's disease, or like our Shiloh, his intestines and microbiome are still all messed up and taking a while to heal. As you can see he is enjoying his new life.
Who is the happiest hound? Barkley, of course.
Marcus is taking the day off, to give it up to Tara and Wesley. Congratulations, these two amazing senior German Shepherds (10 and 7) are now in their new forever home. We are so excited for them. A big thanks to Tara and Wesley's extended family and to Ladies Of Hunterdon County for their posting which lead to their new adopter hearing about their story.
