Darling (221990) is adoptable at Manhattan ACC!

https://nycacc.app/browse/221990

A Volunteer Wrote: The naming department at the shelter is known for their creativity, but this one was a layup: Darling is just ridiculously all that. She lies in her immaculate pop-up crate with her paws crossed and tail wagging; once outside, the tail continues to wag whether I'm sitting with her, walking with her (she's perfect on a leash and sure seems housetrained), or offering up snuggles. Darling showed zero reactivity to other dogs, and she's in a hallway near the elevator where they are passing her constantly. Even under these circumstances-living in a crate in the middle of endless activity-she is calm, endlessly sweet natured, and downright...darling.

Happy Tail Alert: Boulder’s Big Love Story 🐾

Boulder was adopted during ACC's Clear the Shelters event in 2023. Here's what his adopters have to say about his new life:

"We adopted Boulder back in August 2023, and he’s been amazing!

I’d been wanting a large dog for a while and have always loved Bully breeds. When his story from popped up on my Instagram, I immediately wanted to meet him. I brought the family down that weekend, and thankfully, he was still available. I always say I fell in love with him within the first 30 seconds of meeting him—he was gentle, happy, and so lovable. I tell everyone he has "anime eyes" because they’re always so dilated! He just loves everyone. He’s the perfect gentle giant.

I bring him to my shop every day, where he gets lots of love and pets from our customers. People in the neighborhood even stop by just to say hi to him!

At home, he’s incredibly gentle with my daughter and our other pets (one small dog and two orange cats). The cats love him too—they sleep with him and use him as a bed or pillow whenever possible. He has ZERO prey drive, so he never chases animals. His favorite toy is his blue pineapple chew toy. And on the couch? He’s an 85-pound weighted blanket."

Zion (213312) is adoptable at Queens ACC!

https://nycacc.app/browse/213312

A volunteer writes: We have the ultimate snuggly teddy bear up for adoption. Zion is an 8 year old handsome, affectionate, and irresistible man. Zion came to us when his owner did not want to care for him anymore. Zion has been gentle taking snacks, and we have all noticed he enjoys sitting on laps! He appreciates belly rubs and head rub. He had lived with his previous owner for 6 months, and we aren't sure what the previous 8 years entailed. He did spend time around kids of all ages and did well with them, but prefers to keep space from other animals. He likes to spend time where his people are, and everything we have seen of him at the shelter confirms that.

Chicken Little (220039 ) is adoptable at Manhattan ACC!

https://nycacc.app/browse/220039

Meet Chicken Little, a pretty brindle girl looking for a cozy place to call home. She may be a little chicken when facing new things, but with patience and love, she’ll come out of her shell.
Chicken Little would do best in an adults-only home where she can settle in at her own pace. She’s eager to learn and looking for someone to help her build confidence. She prefers to keep her food, toys, and bedding to herself, so she'd rather be the only pet in the nest.
If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to trust, Chicken Little is ready to hatch a new beginning with you!

Ernesto (217388) is adoptable at Manhattan ACC!

https://nycacc.app/browse/217388

Ernesto came to us like so many others—tied to a pole, alone, yet somehow still smiling. For nearly three months, he’s been waiting, his quirks hidden behind kennel bars. But in person? He’s pure joy. HHe’s eager to please, quick to sit, and overflowing with love. Ernesto is a special boy, and we can’t wait for his perfect family to find him at Manhattan ACC.

reposted from Boroughbred in Brooklyn

https://nycacc.app/browse/219062

Kirby has been with us for nearly 2 months and we don’t get it! He’s available to a level 2 home, without young kids. He’s playful, young, and the cutest boy! We are sharing fellow volunteers ’s write up of him below!

“It’s not a secret that I think black & white cookies are the cutest and Kirby does not disappoint! Don’t be fooled by his serious pose - this is a goofy, energetic, playful, silly sweet young boy! He’s estimated to be about 2 years old but he seems very puppyish to me, with his sweet eager attitude. He can barely contain his joy at being outside for the first few minutes, but he is easy to lead down the sidewalk and he settles into a good rhythm fairly quickly.

I wish I had an open area to run & play with him, because I think he would love to really stretch his legs outside of the kennel. But we make do with the leashed walk and he’s happy with that, too. I scattered some treats in a pile of dead leaves and he spent a good long time sniffing them out. I don’t get the chance to do this with all the dogs, but Kirby really excelled at sniffing and finding, and he was so much more relaxed afterwards. He loves to show off his skills like “sit” and “touch” and you can tell he loves to learn and listen. Kirby is so sweet & smart — I hope he finds someone to teach him even more tricks/skills, play games with him and solve puzzles, anything to let him really use his brain.

He reminds me of my own dog with his eagerness to learn and play, and adopting him was the best thing l’ve ever done. Kirby is going to be someone’s dream dog best friend, so go meet him!”

Meet the sweetest four-legged charm—Miss Missy! 🌈💚 This bright and affectionate girl is still searching for her pot of gold—a loving forever home!

As a proud student in our Shelter Scholars program, Miss Missy is working hard on her manners, learning patience, and mastering her skills like a true scholar. But don’t worry, she still has plenty of time for belly rubs, cuddles, and showing off her adorable “sit” and “paw” tricks!

Miss Missy has been a delight in foster care, where she’s proven to be house-trained, snuggly, and full of love. She’s got a soft spot for long walks, cozy naps, and (of course) head scratches on demand. She may be a strong girl, but her heart is even bigger!

Miss Missy (196172) is adoptable at Queens ACC!
