As a mobile dog groomer, I've had my fair share of interesting conversations with clients. But one that really stood out was with a customer who thought my estimate of $100 to groom their 40lb dog with matting was too high. They thought $60 was a more reasonable price.
I asked them, "What do you think is a fair price for this job?" And they said $60 max. So, I offered to teach them how to do it themselves for $60, and they'd get to learn valuable skills. But then they realized they'd need to buy all the tools, and it wasn't worth it.
I even offered to rent them my tools for an extra $15. But then scheduling became an issue. They couldn't make it on weekdays, and I don't work weekends. Plus, they'd have to take time off work to do the groom.
In the end, they realized that my original estimate of $100 was actually quite reasonable. They saw that it's not just about the scissors and shampoo; it's about the knowledge, experience, and time that goes into making their furry friend look and feel its best.
As a professional dog groomer, I know my worth, and I'm confident in the value I provide. And I think that's true for any service provider. When you hire someone to do a custom job, you're not just paying for their time; you're paying for their expertise, tools, and professionalism.
So, to all my fellow service providers out there, know your worth and stand by it. And to clients, recognize the value that professionals bring to the table. Let's appreciate each other's worth and build stronger relationships. 💁♀️🐾
