Let me tell you about these special babies! They’re brother and sister, and they were born with severe cleft palate. When they were born, the prognosis was not good, but I so wanted to try to give these sweet babies a chance to live. They were unable to nurse, so I had to bottle feed them around the clock with a syringe with a special ni**le attached. It was difficult because the puppy formula would go up into their sinuses, and there was always a fear of them aspirating. With God’s help, we made it to 5 weeks on the bottle, but I couldn’t get the babies to transition to puppy food. I knew they needed more, I felt I was failing. I didn’t know where to turn, when an angel reached out to me. Michelle heard about the babies through a special mutual friend, and she researched for help. She found another angel near Tampa, Susan Winslow with Simply Clefts Rescue. Susan agreed to take the pair and to try to get them eating food and drinking water. Michelle and her husband even agreed to transport them to Tampa for me. On this trip, Michelle and her husband fell hopelessly in love with both babies, and made the decision to apply to adopt both of them from the rescue. Four weeks later, after a ton of work and patience from the Susan and her husband, the babies came to their forever home just 30 minutes away from me. Michelle and her family adore these babies, and I could not be more thankful!! I’m amazed how God orchestrated the journey for these babies every step of the way.
