Hello everyone. We’re currently breeding in the treasure valley area of Idaho. We’re looking to adopt our 3yo AKC registered femal out as a nanny dog.
What’s a nanny dog you say?? A nanny dog is when a breeder adopts a dog to a family nearby to live with them full time and be their dog, with the agreement that when she cycles the breeder can take her on a sabbatical to get bred then take her to have and raise her pups to weening and then be returned to the family. After a predetermined amount of breeding cycles the breeder will have the dog fixed and sign over full rights to the dogs new family. The fee to get a dog this way because of all the hassle is MUCH lower than buying one of these dogs yourself and she totally your dog except to breed once or twice a year for 2 to 4 years depending on the agreement arranged. We will only ever charging a $50 rehoming fee.
We haven’t done this before because we are a small in house breeder and keep the females as our personal pets but we just moved and are in the process of building a house and their for living in a 5th wheel camp trailer on our property. We have another older female and cats and busy toddlers that take up a lot of attention right now. Asha just needs more time and love than we have to give right now which isn’t fair to her. We love her deeply but she needs a family with time to be consistent with her obedience training, taking her on walks, and spend time with her more.
She is not a good fit for a home with cats or small dogs. She spent too much time with another family that had dogs that chased small animals and we haven’t been able to break it completely. She’s great with toddlers and kids and is just a big puppy lap dog, full of love and energy and verrrry food driven but not food aggressive. She’s never been aggressive except towards small dogs and cats. She’s truly a great dog just needs more obedience training cuz she hasn’t gotten the time invested that she needed to be consistent.
