In celebration of Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29, Cal Poly’s Veterans Center is hosting a dinner and short movie screening at the Elks San Luis Obispo to raise funds for their food pantry and the SLO Vet Center.

Please join us and spread the word about this wonderful, low-cost community initiative to raise funds for wonderful causes benefiting our Veterans

$15 per person ($10 for Veterans) for the Elks’ famous pork chop dinner. RSVP required - please call the Elks directly at 805-543-0322.

Congratulations to the three graduates from our Elite Vocations Winter 2024 cohort! Each of these Veterans has worked tirelessly through the winter rain and mud ❄️ and all the holiday disruptions 🍂🎄to complete their ten week vocational horsemanship training and final assessments to graduate as Groom Elite qualified grooms/assistant barn managers.

We are excited to see what the future holds for each of them as they embark on their new careers and/or further education in the equine industry 🐴

We’ve been out and about today … supporting our local homeless and at-risk Veteran population at the Stand Down in Santa Maria this morning, followed by the Grand Opening of ‘s amazing new location.

A great opportunity to advertise our and other to our local equine/animal community.

All our horses are available for adoption and are listed on our website heroeshorses.org and on my right horse.org 🤩

Join us on Veterans Day, November 11, at Oak Knolls Hardware in Orcutt. As the beneficiaries of this year’s annual Oak Knolls Veterans Day Family Fun Day all proceeds from the event will go to funding our Elite Vocations program - training, certifying and placing at-risk Veterans in fulfilling jobs in the equine industry while also improving their mental health and wellbeing.

We’ll have free pull pork sandwiches, carnival games for adults and kids, $1 raffle tickets for amazing prizes … and more … as well as free raffle entries just for Veterans as a thank you to those who served our great nation.
