Seems like a no brainer right?
But I see a lot of people struggle with riding their horse up the pen to the second barrel.
What does that mean?
When you leave the first barrel you pick your horse up and ride them up the arena away from the second barrel instead of in a straight line right to your point to start your turn.
When you pick your horse up across the pen you are killing their momentum and a lot of times asking them to shoulder in and anticipate the turn. Not to mention all the extra ground you are covering by riding so wide into your second barrel. Itβs natural to want to ride up the pen, I struggle with this all the time. But if you can pick a spot when you leave the first barrel and run straight to that spot you will be surprised how much more efficient your second barrel turn is and how much time it will save you.
