🚗🚗UPDATE🚗🚗. Although the stars weren’t aligned for transport yesterday, we have heard Sam will be traveling to his TX furever home in the next few days. Thanks to our community for coming together one more time to help a dog in need💙

Anyone traveling from Edmond to Ardmore?

This is Sam. He was in danger of becoming homeless but now has a great new home waiting for him in Texas. If anyone is driving to Ardmore, and would be willing to give Sam a ride, please contact Peggy at 214-603-7211. Any time in the next few days would be a big help. Sam is about 60 pounds and very polite and well behaved. Sam is very friendly, rides great in a car, and so happy to be safe.🐶🐾🚗🐾🏘️

UPDATE: Khaki, Mallard and Ryan Gooseling are SAFE!

Please consider fostering to help Apple, Cayuga and Muscovy. They are the sweetest babies ever🥰

🐶🐶🐶IMMEDIATE FOSTERS NEEDED🐶🐶🐶

Recently, six abandoned puppies, lovingly dubbed the "Dumped Ducklings," have come into the Lexington Animal Shelter’s care. These sweet babies have had a rough start in life and urgently need rescue groups help to provide the care, resources, and eventual forever homes they deserve. We would love to help these little ones and if you would love to foster, please call or text Karla at 405 245-3357.

Here’s a little about the Dumped Ducklings:

Apple: Apple is the most social and curious of the group. This playful pup seems to understand that good behavior leads to treats, toys, or food! Currently weighing 9.7 pounds, Apple is likely a shepherd mix—possibly with Aussie or Brittany. He’s eager to please and loves people, making him a joy to be around.

Cayuga: With her beautiful brown eyes, Cayuga is always tuned in to the energy around her. Weighing 6.8 pounds, she loves playtime and naptime equally. Cayuga’s favorite activities include tug-of-war and snuggling with her siblings for cozy naps. A good chew toy will be a must for this playful pup.

Khaki: Khaki is a shy boy with stunning blue-green eyes. At 10 pounds, he’s slow to adjust to new surroundings but loves toys and cuddles once he feels comfortable. This sweet boy would thrive in a patient, loving environment where he can blossom.

Mallard: Mallard, at 6.6 pounds, resembles a smaller, lighter-colored version of Khaki with the same enchanting blue-green eyes. Despite her angelic looks, Mallard is a playful mischief-maker who’d happily chew on a shoelace if given the chance! She’ll bring endless joy to any family.

Muscovy: Muscovy, currently weighing 8.5 pounds, is a lot like her sister Cayuga with adorable brown eyes and a love for play. But Muscovy is the sneaky one of the group, always on the lookout for opportunities to create excitement. She thrives on playtime and mischief, keeping everyone entertained.

Ryan Gooseling: Our "odd duck," Ryan Gooseling, is the smallest of the group at 6.5 pounds. Black and brown with perfect brown eyes and small markings that resemble eyebrows, Ryan has the sweetest expressions. Though she looks different from her siblings, Ryan is just as playful, sneaky, and mischievous as the rest.

These puppies are a mixed bunch, and we suspect they may not all be from the same litter. All are in the playful, teething stage and need chew toys, lots of love, and care.

Our rescue will provide all these precious puppies need, food, supplies, vetting and eventually loving forever homes! You’ll enjoy hours of laughing, playing and loving these bundles of joy❣️

When you see dog photos posted on a rescue page, it generally means your help is needed. Today is no different. Like so many, these dogs came to their circumstances through no fault of their own. Meet 2 very special dogs who were once happy, loved and cared for, but for some reason have now been...forgotten.

Lady

Lady is a beautiful 4 year old Border Collie mix who is spayed and current on vaccinations. She is the perfect mix of energy and affection. with a hint of shyness. Lady would do well with a family or individual who can give her the time and space she needs to be herself. That way her playful nature can come out. She deserves all the love and attention she craves.

Zeus

Zeus is 7+ year old mastiff who is a gentle giant with a heart full of love, despite everything he’s been through. This sweet boy is calm, loyal, and will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a laid-back, loving dog who enjoys long walks, wants a cozy spot to relax and someone to share his days with. Zeus enjoys being allowed to do what he wants and at his pace.

Please let us know how you can help these dogs. They are available for adoption through Lexington Animal Shelter. All adoption fees are waived.

If you can’t adopt through the shelter, please reach out to a reputable rescue and offer to foster or foster-to-adopt one or all of these dogs. Rescues support foster homes by providing food, necessary items to care for them and all vetting necessary to get them adoption ready. Our rescue stands ready to help if a committed foster is found.

If these two are unable to find a foster or adoptive home, their euthanasia date is scheduled for Friday, 1/17/2025. Please like and share their story so we can find the help these precious dogs need and deserve. They are counting on us! 🐶🐾

UPDATE: ❣️Teach has been adopted❣️

Who’s having all that fun in the snow? If you guessed Teach, you guessed right!

Teach is a handsome, 3 years old German Shepherd mix. He's intact, current on vaccinations and weighs 54 lbs. Teach is as smart as shepherds come and his accomplishments will be determined by the amount of time spent working with and training him. He's already off to a great start as he has great recall, knows basic commands, is learning to play fetch and LOVES all kinds of toys. There is no reason for us to believe Teach wouldn't fit into most loving home situations. So a home with another canine his size and/or an active family might be his best fit. Don't miss out on the opportunity of experiencing all the love this dog has. Like a true companion in life, Teach will proudly walk by your side all the days of his life.

This special guy is available for adoption through the Lexington Animal Shelter. Currently, city adoption fees are being waived.

Teach could also be available for adoption through our rescue or any other if space and a committed foster home to house him while his vetting is being completed and his furever home is found. Rescues provide food, items necessary for a dog's care and all their medical expenses. Please consider giving Teach a chance for a wonderful life in a furever home by fostering, foster-to-adopt or adopting this sweet guy today.

If we are unable to find Teach a rescue or adopter, his euthanasia is scheduled for Friday, January 17.

Please like and share this post so we can reach Teach's person. They may not know they need him as much as he needs them.💙

Did you know they call me Honey because I'm just as sweet as the stuff bees make? Well, it’s true, I can't deny. I also hear a lot about being beautiful but honestly, when my sister and I were found, we looked much different. We were simply skin and bones and hadn't seen food in far too long. We were lucky though, some really great people found us and then our fosters took us in and have been giving us the best care and helping us get ready for our furever homes.
.
Life sure is good now. We have a big yard for doggy play and a big pond to jump and play in and cool off, anytime! I'm extremely smart, a quick learner with good memory and am eager to please. I am house and crate trained with good house manners. I ride well in the car and am working on leash training. I must admit, my leash skills are superior to my sister's 🙂. I love playing with my toys, chew sticks that keep me out of trouble:) and treats, treats and more treats!. But no matter how big I get, I still want to be a lap dog getting lots of attention and plenty of loving. I'm gentle, love my people and kids (4 of all ages) and enjoy outside play with my sister and foster dogs.

They say I'm a Belgium Shepherd mix and weigh 42 lbs. I've had my vaccinations, been dewormed, microchipped, spayed and on flea/tick and heart worm preventatives. I'm a really great dog and can't wait to meet my furever people. If you are looking for a loyal, loving dog like me, message 405 245-3357 and they will send an application to start the adoption process. The rescue also has a 2-week trial period in place to make sure we are the perfect fit for each other before the adoption process in finalized.

Sadly, Honey’s foster home has become very busy with their 4 kid’s after school activities and aren’t home as much in the evening. If there is anyone able to foster her until she leaves on transport in a week or two, she sure would appreciate it❤️

💙💙Update💙💙 We are pleased to report Zeus has been adopted! Thank you all for your cares and shares as every life matters. Turn your positive words into actions and make a difference today.

Zeus is setting in a shelter kennel all alone. What will his fate be? Today marks his 14th day and it could be his last.

His owner surrendered him to the shelter because he wasn’t worth the $35 to get him out.

He has been posted as available for adoption with no adoption fee, with no interest. We have posted asking for a volunteer to foster, with no response.

We think his life is worth saving and are looking for others who feel the same. Please consider making Zeus a member of your family or help us by offering to foster today. Please share this post, Zeus’ life depends on it.

Our Roy, an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix, is 7 months old, weighs 62 lbs, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and on heart worm preventatives. He is a spunky, independent and fun-loving pup that comes with a personality bigger than Texas. His puppy antics will keep you on your toes and smiling throughout the day. He enjoys meeting new people and often times will seal the friendship with a paw shake or two and a hug:)

This guy is smart and food motivated which makes him a perfect candidate for whatever training you have in mind. Roy has good house manners, is potty trained and proficient with the doggie door, walks well on a leash but is great off-leash and loads up and rides well in the car!

Lover of great outdoors activities, Roy enjoys our off-leash adventures. He is a playful, loving pup that gets along with all dogs. Roy is crossing his paws there is another playful dog already in his new home. And…just in case you were wondering, he loves chew toys, baby carrots, peanut butter filled Kongs and treats of all kinds:)

The end of the day is made for snuggling and even though he has out grown your lap, there is no place he’d rather be.

If you think Roy is everything you are looking for, just let us know...he’s ready to make a big splash in his furever home!

"Hi there! I'm Zeus, a loveable 3 year old male Chihuahua mix, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home. I was recently surrendered by my previous owner, but I'm ready to spread my paws and fill your life with love and laughter!

I'm a sweet little guy who adores giving kisses and snuggling up with my favorite humans. My playful spirit means I have plenty of energy to share --whether its chasing toys or exploring the great outdoors, I'm always up for an adventure!

I'm looking for a patient and loving family who can help me thrive. Training and socialization are key for me, but I promise to repay your efforts with endless affection and companionship.

If you are ready to welcome a fun-loving friend into your home, I can't wait to meet you! Let's create some amazing memories together!"

Last week Zeus, a chihuahua mix was surrendered by his owner to the Lexington Animal Shelter. He is available for adoption and the fees have been waived. If you are interested in adopting Zeus, please call 405 527-9881 to schedule a time to meet him. Please understand time is of the essence. Friday will be his 14th day at the shelter and his last day of safety.

If he is not adopted, we would like to help this little guy out of the shelter. We will need a kind hearted family to foster him while we complete his vetting, post him on Petfinder and find his forever home. Rescues pay for their vetting and provide items needed to care for the dogs. Foster homes provide all the love they need to navigate the recent changes that have occurred in their life and to help prepare them for their new home.. Your help today can completely change little Zeus' life forever. Please consider fostering today

This 2 year old, handsome Plott Hound mix we call Dash is a newcomer to our group but it didn’t take long to realize what an amazing dog he is.

Dash loves outdoor activities. He enjoys swimming in the pond, playing tug-a-war and is learning to catch a frisbee. Dash is AMAZING with kids, he’s very patient and gentle and loves their hugs and cuddles (we’ve only observed ages 10 and up) and gets along with his foster dogs. He wants to be a part of all daily activities and will follow to ensure he doesn’t miss a single one. Dash is protective of his peeps and will alert when someone arrives.

Dash has received his vaccinations, dewormer, is neutered and microchipped and on flea and tick and heartworm preventatives.

As you can tell, Dash would be a great family dog. He is smart, loving, eager to please and would be an easy addition to any loving home. Thanks to his fosters, he now has such zest for life and a renewed hope for his future and a furever home.

If you are interested, please see Dash on Petfinder. Go to the “more about us” section where you will find our adoption application link. Download and return the complete application to [email protected]. Dash is being fostered in Noble and our adoption donation is $175.00. ~Laura Mankin Veal ~Ashley Veal Atherton

💙💙UPDATE💙💙. Thanks for all your love and concern for this sweet pup in need. He had his initial vet visit yesterday and is settling into his foster home. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers that his journey to his furever home will be swift and smooth. We will do our best to keep you current on his progress.

PSA, Oklahoma companion animals are in crisis due to overpopulation and owner surrenders. Shelter are full and sadly many wonderful and highly adoptable animals are dying daily. Rescues are overburdened trying to save as many as they can, foster homes are scarce and adoptions are down. No dog, regardless of breed, size or circumstance, is more deserving of a home than any other dog. Please help us by liking and sharing every post. We love and appreciate your continued support and know…

11 month old, full-blood mini schnauzer is in need of a furever home. He still needs to complete some vetting so we’ll be looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home. Let us know if you are interested or please share with all your schnauzer friends.

Charlee is an adorable Australian Cattle Dog mix who is just now 6 months old. She is vaccinated, house trained, weighs less than 30 pounds and will be spayed by end of this month.

This little outdoor enthusiast loves her daily off-leash adventures which may include playing in leaves piled high, splashing in a water puddle after a good rain, and/or a game of “catch me if you can” with her foster buddies. Because of her adventurist nature, we believe she belongs with an active family with another playful dog already in the home.

Charlee will be protective of her family when needed and may be a little slower to warm up to strangers but will welcome them with a wagging tail and a kiss or two once they have earned her trust.

Charlee never wanders far from those she loves. She will snuggle when the time is right or sleep at your feet but is always proud to walk by your side wherever life leads you.

If you are ready to make a lifetime commitment to this perfectly wonderful companion, please go to “more about us” section on Petfinder to download our application link and apply today. Thank you for sharing Charlee’s story.

Stop the press! If you’re looking for a sweet terrier mix pup, this little gal we call Gizmo may be the one. Gizmo’s world has been enriched by many new experiences in foster care and this amazing, adaptable gal has met each with flying colors.

Gizmo loves outdoor activities and is a pro at fetching a tennis ball. She loves long walks but off-leash adventures are her favorite. Gizmo is a great playmate with her foster buddies and she currently holds the title to best snuggle bunny in the house. She has not been observed with cats or children but we suspect she would do famously with both.

Gizmo is 4.5 months old, weighs 20.5 lbs, is house trained (self taught doggie door user), has excellent house manners, is crate trained and fully vaccinated, microchipped and on heart worm preventatives.

Because Gizmo possesses many wonderful attributes, we feel confident she would compliment many loving home scenarios. If you would like to add Gizmo’s happy paws, waggy tail and adorable ears to your home and heart, email us for an application and we’ll get the process started! Please share with all your terrier friends!

You don’t have to travel to France to see Paris!
Meet our Paris in Noble, OK.

Paris is a beautiful boxer mix who is 9-10 months old and weighs 32 lbs. She is house trained and has good house manners. Paris is current on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed. She rides well in the car, walks with a leash but her favorite is those daily off-leash adventures. Paris never met a dog she didn’t like and if left alone with a group of dogs she will quickly organize a game of “catch me if you can”.

Paris has a playful nature which means this sweet girl will do well with an active family who enjoys daily walks (runs if you are a runner), hiking, taking her to a dog park or just playing with her in the backyard to help satisfy her need for physical and mental stimulation.

This girl is as smart and quick as they come and we can easily see her involved in organized activities such as Agility training, Fast Cat and Diving Dog.

Does Paris have a down time? Oh yes, she is not only the ideal size but has perfected the act of couch snuggling and hopes she’s invited on the big bed to sleep with you at the end of the day.

Paris longs for the love only a forever family can offer. Whatever path you choose in life, she’s sure to do you proud walking by your side every single day. If you think Paris is everything you are looking for, just let us know...we are here to help make your dreams for an incredible dog come true!

June 28, 2024 was your day. The day you were set free from this world and the pain it held for you. Many questions can be answered by your last few days. We wish you had been afforded medical care early on or humane euthanasia had been offered in lieu of being tossed out like another piece of trash on the side of the road.
We've but one regret. We didn’t get a chance to let you know how much you mattered...to us...the residents driving, watching the side of the road hoping for a glimpse of you and...all those well wishers offering up prayers and good thoughts on your behalf. We will not forget you or the ones who traveled before you. Fly high sweet girl!

🌈UPDATE🌈 we are heartbroken to report this precious dog left this world last Friday. She suffered physically with obvious health issues for an undetermined amount of time. Then handed the ultimate betrayal her human could bestow, left to fend for herself in harsh conditions without means to do so.

We were deeply saddened she left without knowing how much she mattered to so many people.

Thank you all for caring and sharing her story! Fly high little one!

We need your help. If you live or travel on or around Cemetery Road between 120th-144th Street and see this dog, please contact Karla at 405 245-3357 immediately.

Yes, we believe those are tumors and they extend to the ground making it nearly impossible for her to travel great distances for food and water. We are working to establish a feeding station in case we need to trap. Please do not feed or attempt to catch, reporting her location is most beneficial. Medical care arrangements (boarding, initial assessment and treatment) have been secured with Riverbend Mobile Vet in Lexington once we have her in our possession. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Alysse Matlock Julie Slate Deb Melser
