Urgent: Norfolk Animal Care Center is in immediate need of foster homes for the holidays.

Foster pickup begins this Tuesday, 11/25, with returns planned for Saturday, 11/29. Even a short stay outside the shelter makes a critical difference. For those able to help longer, support is especially needed between December 1–15, when construction is scheduled at the shelter and the goal is to have as few dogs in the building as possible.

Every home that steps up makes a real impact.

Homes without resident dogs, or homes able to safely separate pets, are especially needed for several dogs currently receiving treatment for upper respiratory infections who need a quiet, comfortable space to recover.

King, a sweet and silly Boxer mix, had a great time hanging with the crew at Norfolk Fire-Rescue Station 14 as the First Responder for a Day! 🚒🧑‍🚒🔥

He made himself right at home, happily introducing himself to everyone while exploring the station, known as the Norview Nuthouse - the busiest station in Norfolk. 🥜🏠👀👅

He learned that Station 14's crew handles special operations from high-speed roadway incidents to water rescues, confined spaces, and structural collapses.

The Norfolk Animal Care Center is seeking (foster) homes for the holidays! Foster pickup will begin Tuesday 11/25 and plan to return them on Saturday 11/29. If you want to foster longer or prefer to foster between holidays, NACC has planned construction from Dec 1-15 and would love for as few dogs as possible to be in shelter at that time.

November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month. Dogs like Oatmeal, Granola and Donnie are still waiting for someone to see the love they’ve been saving. These sweet seniors have weathered life’s ups and downs, and all they want now is a soft place to land — a warm bed, a gentle hand, and a family to call their own.

Their faces may be a little greyer, but their hearts are full, loyal, and ready to give everything to the person who chooses them. 💛🐾

Through FNACC’s Golden Paws Adoption Program, senior pet adoptions are reduced all year round.

🐾 Senior pets over seven years of age and older are just $35 for any age adopter.
🐾 Senior adopters over the age of 65 and older can adopt a pet of any age for just $35.
🐾 Senior adopters may adopt a senior pet at no cost.

If you are interested in adopting a senior sweetheart, Adoption Hours are 1:30 to 6:00 pm every day (except closed on Wednesdays)
