The time is here - Reba McEntire and her country singer puppies are available for adoption applications! Reba is a medium sized mix breed that is dog social, child social, and an all around good dog. Her puppies are mixed of unknown breeds as well so their adopters should be comfortable adopting a dog that will likely be 40lbs+ as adults. This litter has been raised around other dogs and children, so keep up the great work their fosters have started by continuing to socialize and expose them to new things. Interested in adopting a puppy or their mom? Come by during adoption hours to place an app and hear more about each puppies personality. The family will be getting fixed on June 24th and go their new homes same day.

Go Megan! Norfolk Animal Care Center Animal Care Tech, Megan, threw out the first pitch at Tuesday's Bark in the Park with the Norfolk Tides and she knocked it out of the park! Even better ... 196 dogs were in attendance and the Tides will be donating $980 to Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center ❤️🐾

This is Samson, a 7yr old large mix breed, and his foster says he is as sweet as he looks. He wags his whole body when you come home and loves to curl up at your feet while you watch TV - or he'll join you on the couch if you allow but will stay down if you tell him to. Samson is very well potty and crate trained. He responds consistently to multiple commands including sit, paw (shake), in (crate), off, down, wait (stay), come, go, fetch, drop. He likes to burn energy by running and playing fetch in the backyard. Samson has only child vibes and isn’t the best at sharing sometimes, so he would prefer to stay the only child in his adoptive home as well. Samsons foster says he is an excellent guy that is a true persons best friend.

Waggin’ Wheels has been involved in a minor fender bender (there were no animals aboard!) so now our transport van is stocked and ready to get into our community this afternoon (12-2pm) to help feed Norfolks’ at-risk pets. Thanks to food assistance from our Shelter & Mobile pet pantry programs we are able to help feed pets, so that owners don’t have to make the difficult choice of surrendering their beloved pet while they are going through temporary financial difficulties. UPDATE - REUNITED WITH OWNER

Beatrice oh, Beatrice. This Cane Corso female has had quite a journey. Originally a stray, wary of strangers, and unable to be touched for almost a week - Beatrice has grown to trust the people caring for her and in turn offers tail wags, goes on walks, and shows off the tricks she knows. However, in a completely packed shelter she needs a rescue to transfer her into their care or an adopter to step up for her asap. Beatrice’s dream home would be one with adults only and ideally someone who is knowledgeable with molossers. We do not have a history of how Beatrice does with other dogs or cats.

FOSTER SPOTLIGHT!! Everyone wants a puppy, but Charlie is here to tell you that adult dogs are where it’s at! Charlie doesn't need you to potty train him or teach him how to walk on a leash. He's got skills!! This guy knows his name and comes when called. He's not going to run around your house tearing everything up because you left him alone for 10 minutes. Charlie is happy just hanging out on the couch.

Many thanks to the Juniors from Girl Scout troop 256 in Norfolk! They are working on their bronze award and graciously made pet adoption kits for our adopters! They gathered donations from our Amazon wishlist and many more items. Gigi is ready for adoption! Here is what her fosters say about her: She is very people and dog friendly of all sizes. She is a medium energy dog, she loves her tug toys but also loves a nap on her human. She is potty trained. Does not chew on or destroy household items. She loves to cuddle and sleep with her human. We are working on separation anxiety. Gigi will also get her cherry eyes fixed while she is under for her spay surgery.

Wade is ready for adoption! Here is what his fosters have to say about him: Wade is a lap cat, super affectionate, trusts and loves people. He is shy at first but as long as he has encouragement it doesn’t take long for him to get comfortable. He has a lot of energy which makes him fun to play with but he has a good balance of play and cuddle time. I can see how he can get himself into mischief so routine playtime is a must. He is food motivated and does well with all kinds of puzzle feeders to help keep busy. Wade did well around our senior beagle who ignores cats. He wasn’t scared of him and was very curious.

Fergus recently completed a 23 & Me only to find out that he is full blooded Scottish! At least that is what he tells us. His fosters say if you listen close he definitely speaks with a brogue. We’re not sure if his personality is related to his heritage, but this guy is as laid back as it gets. He is happy to do anything or nothing at all. As long as he gets to be with you he is happy. Fergus also qualifies for our Golden Paws $35 adoption special!

Meet today’s foster feature 🌬️Breeze!💨 She has been living in a foster home for a bit and letting her personality shine bright! She loves to sniff on walks, is house trained, happy to go on car rides, knows some good cues and prefers to be tucked in to bed at night. Breeze is about 9 years old and part of the Golden Paws adoption program, reducing my adoption fee to more than half off! (Just $35! Compared to the regular $75) 😊 Plus, NACC will waive the entire adoption fee if a senior citizen over 65 years old adopts a senior pet like Breeze!

🪿 Fabio 🪿 the Cocker/Golden checking in! I had such a fun time becoming a with the team of Norfolk Fire-Rescue station 13! They were so nice to me during my visit and gave me so many head rubs and body scratches. The fire house even gathered donations to give us as well 🖤 I'm just a sweet senior fella, who requires daily eye meds, that is searching for a comfy bed to rest on and a gentle soul to love me. I even do well with other dogs! 🐾 At around 10 years old, I'm part of the Golden Paws adoption program at Norfolk Animal Care Center, reducing my adoption fee to more than half off! Spooky season in May? Well Mocha doesn’t care about conforming to seasonal or behavioral expectations. This tiny but mighty vampire (aka Hamster) is all growl but so far no bite. Mocha is not fond of: being woken from her slumber, spring flowers or garlic, but does enjoy chewing on a wood stake. If you adopt Mocha we will even give you a stuffie version of her, so you have something soft to pet until you can befriend the real Mocha. Beans! Beans! He’s good for your heart! 🫘 This is Beans (aka Beanie We**ie) and he is a wire terrier mix of sorts that is about 3-5 years old. Though he acts 100% like a puppy we call his behaviors “unregulated Malinois” vibes. This guy loves to chomp, pull, and play rough! He doesn’t know what an off-switch is so teaching him how to regulate his body and chompers will be ideal. Beanie does love to work for food and knows how to sit, down, & shake. Beans can go 💨 go 💨 go 💨 and is the perfect 40lb size. He is social with dogs that don’t mind rowdy play.
