According to a University of Georgia study, neutered/spayed dogs and cats live longer! That's worth celebrating! ✨
We hope you'll join us and Friends of the Norfolk Animal Care Center at Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen for "Sip & Snip" Happy Hour on Friday, Feb. 7 from 4-6pm.
Enjoy a special cocktail/mocktail - "Spay-cial Margarita" or "Neuter-ita on the Rocks" to celebrate and Baker's Crust will donate $2 from each one sold in February to FNACC to support spay/neuter programs for cats and dogs in Norfolk.

🚍🐾 Help Us Stuff the Bus for pets and families in need! 🐶🐱

NACC's Waggin' Wheels will be parked outside the shelter this SATURDAY, Feb. 1 collecting donations for our pet pantries.

📦 Most-Needed Items:
✔ Dog and cat food (wet or dry).
✔ Any brand, size, or flavor.
✔ Treats, too!
✔ Must be unopened.

Just drive-up and drop-off! Our NACC staff and volunteers will be there to graciously receive your donations and you don't have to get out of the car!

🐾 About the Pet Pantry:
We provide food for 1,000+ pets each month and even go mobile to support pets where they’re needed most. Link in comments for more information!

Gary A250 the Belgian Malinois/GSD mix was medically separated and retired from serving in the US Air Force as a patrol dog trainer in 2023. During his military career Gary A250 assisted with training several new working dog handlers on patrolling. He does now have lumbosacral stenosis and some other lumbar and arthritis issues in his back, so Gary A250 is in search of a relaxing home to finish his retirement in. He has raised a Great Dane from when she was a puppy, however has chosen that he is not a fan of immediately becoming friends with adult dogs. Gary A250 loves people and knows many commands, but now that he's retired he picks and chooses when he wants to fulfill those commands. Ready to adopt? Gary A250 is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives. Ask a staff member to meet with him today! Adoption Hours are 1:30 to 6:00 pm every day (except closed on Wednesdays)

It all started with an idea and a little yellow newspaper box...
Two years ago we got an old newspaper box off of Facebook marketplace, cleaned it up, and painted it yellow. It didn't seem like much back then, but it was special to us.
Here at the Norfolk Animal Care Center we know that one of the best ways to help animals, is to help their human counterparts. We have one of the largest pet food pantries in the 757, giving out over a thousand pounds of food yearly to help our community members keep their pets instead of having to surrender them.
We know its hard to ask for help, there can be a sense of shame or a concern of judgement. We try to help alleviate those thoughts and worries when you walk through our doors, and we know if you need help feeding your loved pets, that there is a chance you might need food as well.
So, we made that yellow box, our 'Cans for the Community' where anyone could bring or take human food cans and non-perishables with no questions.
As our programs grow, so do our ideas. It was time our Cans for the Community to turn into something bigger and we're so happy to introduce our new shed, "NACC SNACKS."
Still located at the front of our building, NACC Snacks is a weatherproof shed where community members are welcome to drop off or take human food and supplies.
You will still find food cans, non-perishables, and things of that sort, but you could now also find heated blankets, sheets, plates, cookware, shoes, and so much more.
Many thanks to our volunteers that came and spent their time building our new shed, and additional thanks to our community members that keep NACC Snacks full of items for their neighbors.

Our favorite part about snow days? Doggie play groups! These four pups had a blast rolling, jumping, and roughhousing in the snow. Ace (white) and his littermate King JR (tan & white), BB (black), & Loki (red) are all ready to bound into adoptive homes!

¡Mejores Amigos! Tony and Teddy are a sweet and playful pair looking for a loving home at Norfolk Animal Care Center. These little guys top out at 30 pounds each and have the cutest long bodies and stumpy legs! At just 1 year and 7 months old, these brithers do everything together, including eating at the same time! Many thanks to Trash Pandas for coming by to remove a truck full of heavy lift items for us! Not only did they do some major lifting, but they also brought treats for all of our dogs and spent some time socializing with them too! See the handsome black and tan fella in the first pic? That's Murphy, their Norfolk Animal Care Center alumni that is now available for adoption through Southeast German Shepherd Rescue. We love when local organizations and businesses work together for the betterment of animals' lives. Thank you Trash Pandas!

Apollo had a great time as First Responder for a Day with the crew from Norfolk Fire-Rescue Station 9. 🚒🐾🧑‍🚒
Just look at the face card on this short (80 lb.) but mighty king! 🥹👑
Apollo is quite the golden boy - he's a playful, friendly, silly and dog social bulldog mix who loves attention (giving and getting) and even knows a few commands.
Thank you to the Station 9 crew for having Apollo over for a visit.
