To all Oklahoma friends - please stay weather and fire aware today! Evacuations are already underway in parts of OKC and Norman. Fires are spreading incredibly fast with the high winds, and power outages are likely.
This is a serious risk!
Have an evacuation plan in place. Visibility is very low with the smoke. Have a go bag at the ready. Charge your electronics so you can stay connected and pay attention to the weather channels. For your horses, have your trailer ready or find a friend with a trailer and make a plan so you aren’t scrambling to get your horses out. It is also a good idea to put a fly mask on your horse to protect their eyes.
Prepare yourself as best as you can in case of a worst case scenario.

Did you know that horses are more prone to dehydration in winter? ❄️🐴

Cold weather can reduce a horse’s thirst, but they still need to drink at least 5-10 gallons of water daily to stay healthy. Offering slightly warmed water and ensuring it’s free of ice can encourage them to drink enough.

Proper hydration is essential to prevent colic and maintain their overall health during the colder months!
