Welcome to the residents of our happy, loving hedgehog rescue and retirement home. Message us about adoptable hedgehogs.

We have been rescuing hedgehogs since we fell in love with our first, who we adopted in 2015. Since then we’ve had over 100 hedgehogs pass through our care and many have been adopted. Hedgehogs that are older or require expensive health maintenance are permanently homed at the sanctuary located in North Canton, Ohio. If you are in need of re-homing a hedgehog we often are willing to meet halfway.

After 10 wonderful years, over 100 rescued hedgehogs (one winter my basement held 15 little guys who needed protection and rehabilitation), I will be closing at the end of 2024. My heart can’t handle their short lifespan anymore, but my passion for them will exist forever. I still have 4 hedgehogs who currently live here and they will remain until they cross the rainbow bridge. I will still be available in the event of an emergency. Thank you for all of your support and a special thank you to those who have adopted!

Future owner surrenders should reach out to the Hedgehog Welfare Society to find their closest rescue/rehabber.

This little guy was rescued from an apartment building a few weeks ago. He was left abandoned with a female hedgehog (she sadly passed from injuries she obtained). He needs a name and will be up for adoption shortly.

Patch has been with us for a few years now. He is going to the rainbow bridge today and lived such an amazing life. Like many hedeghogs, he has developed a large mouth tumor and due to his age and location of the tumor, surgery is not a good option. The message from his previous owner, Liesl Hasselfeld was so heartfelt and truly what rescuers need to hear once in a while. Thank you for being a wonderful human being and hedgehog mom.

Looking for someone with previous hedgehog experience to adopt a special girl. She came to us with a string wrapped around her foot. Sadly the circulation was cut off for too long and she lost some of her foot. However, she is very sweet and lives a (mostly) normal hedgie life.

These two are NOT housed together. On the left is Hazel, a female hedehog of average/normal size to other hedgehogs. On the right is “Big Mama,” who is a little more than double the average size. Hard to tell from the picture but she’s a big gal. ❤️🦔🦔❤️

We just got in this sweet, Cinnamon colored girl. She was dropped off in a box at a reptile rescue in Pennsylvania where a kind man found her and reached out to us. (Hedgehogs are illegal to own in PA and proper veterinary care for them is not available). Cinnamon received a nail trim, a lavender soak bath for her dry skin and otherwise seems sweet and healthy. She will be up for adoption and her forever home in the next few weeks. ❤️🦔❤️
