A very boring video that I am very proud of. Magnific Kirkby continues to be one giant delight to bring along. Let me know if you want to see this face in your barn for Christmas!
Super lesson working with Sara Schmitt this morning. I’ll get this contact thing eventually! Always a great day to learn at KD Dressage & Sport Horses LLC
Oh this girl is looking and feeling like the real deal! I saw a picture of her in a Facebook comment and something in my head just said buy her… boy am I happy I took the risk. Three years ago she was hopping around her first jumps, now powering around a course that posed some serious challenges and caught out more experienced horses!
This kid hasn’t had an update in a while. Magnific Kirkby is almost under saddle but I took a little time to play around with him today. First time seeing jumps, not too shabby!
Fi and the flag
Fi is without a doubt a kind and level headed horse by nature but she can also be reactive and very sensitive (especially to touch) depending on the situation. For years I’d have spent time trying to keep her environment quiet, effectively lowering her threshold for stimuli. Instead, we learn to manage our feelings and that not everything is overwhelming!
Magnific Kirkby is making huge strides in his confidence. The wind was blowing the flag on the flagpole, he’s never seen the tarp before, and he only learned how to be sent places about two weeks ago. I’m practicing sending him over a variety of obstacles to prepare for trailer loading and, down the line, jumping scary things! This way he has to rely on his own confidence while simultaneously understanding that I won’t send him to his death.
I was pretty sure I did not want a winter project but when something this cute is owned by some very good friends, how can you say no? Wraith is a 12yo New Forest Pony with previous eventing experience and so far has been a perfect gentleman. He has been sitting for several years due to owner health issues so, in partnership with Hunter Hill Farm NY LLC, I’m going to sweep the dust out of the corners and help him find his perfect home! Thanks KRS Dual Equitation for trusting me with him.
Once again Fi stepped up to the plate today at the equine affaire. The arena was tiny, the footing was hard, and the bleachers were at maximum capacity. While some of the others struggled in the atmosphere, Fi was cool as a cucumber for our lesson with Phillip Dutton. She got a little tired at the end but what a good sport she is and boy has she earned a vacation. Thanks Dana for the video!!
Waredaca cross country day!
Clear across the board on endurance day! Thanks Darrah for the video
GLOW UP. Fi is feeling fit and ready to take on her first long format. I didn’t really want to take all her hair off but with the forecast for 80° I had to! Thank you BUCKEYE Nutrition for that shine
Seakyr!
Having my horse come toward me for mounting is one of the most beneficial things I’ve learned on this whole ground work adventure. Love that I’ve been able to get help starting his lady correctly!!
