Weekends mean rabbit chores 🐇💪 and this weekend the rabbits got an update to the watering system. Gravity water buckets have made my life so much simpler 😆 but Florida sun 🌞 means the algae 🦠 is no joke and keeping the equipment clean is very important.

Two New Zealand does due today 😄
My red New Zealand named Ginger built a beautiful nest with lots of fur, hopefully we have babies in the morning! 🐇🥳

Fun fact: rabbits typically only feed their kits twice a day- dawn and dusk. In the wild a momma rabbit will ignore the nest as to not attract predators to the area and only visit it to feed the babies. Who knew 🤷‍♀️😉

Homestead update 🌞🐰👩‍🌾

Heart's (mini rex) babies are 5 weeks old now and just the cutest little rabbits 😍

Our cali/nz mix Allison had a tiny litter of 2 😲 but they were GIANT babies! Mom and both kits are doing great.

We had a litter of 7 nz/lionhead mixes yesterday (most pink and wiggly) I'll post a video later today or tomorrow 🥰

Our nz does Morticia and Ginger are due in 3 days. I have not personally witnessed any belly movement so we will see 🤷‍♀️

A giant spider made it's web right next to my rabbits and if you know me you know that I literally CANNOT focus if their is a visible giant spider near me. Sooo I will update with tons of pictures and videos and soon as my hubby gets home and kills this sucker. 🕷🕸💀

What a time to be alive!

In the era of social media, where each day social platforms reach new heights, we are now being told to practice social distancing. Schools have closed. Bars and restaurants have been closed. Events have been cancelled. Toilet paper and water are being rationed. People have been told to stay home. For a rabbit raiser, this is okay; the barn is the place we would rather be anyway, except for on weekends when there is a rabbit show. For the time being, shows have been cancelled, as well. Until now.

This is a unique time, and with that, comes unique and special opportunities to bring the world together.

Ear #, Breed, Variety, Age, S*x
The website and entries will be open later today and close on Sunday, March 22.

We will be doing both Youth and Open Classes.
Awards will be given for BOB and BOS within each breed and Best in Show receives $100.

Judges will be giving comments on each rabbit entered and Placing the Top 5 rabbits in each class.

Placements will be announced by March 26.

Logistics: After entering at www.InternationalRabbitShow.com go to our Facebook group page www.facebook.com/groups/MIOHStateLineRBA and put photos of videos of your rabbits in the respective breed photo: including Ear #, Breed, Variety, Age, S*x. After entries close we will begin the show. Judges will be giving comments on the rabbits and placing 1st through 5th, Best of Variety, BOSV, Best of Group and BOSG, Best of Breed and BOS just like a normal show. After completion of BOB the judges will be ranking their Best in Show.

Summer is just around the corner for most of Florida, so your primary focus should be on the warm-season crops, although a few cool-season leafy crops will still have time to mature before hot weather arrives. Here's what to put in the ground now: achira, aibika, arugula, arrowroot, basil, beans, boniato, cantaloupe, carrots, cassava, celery, chaya, chayote, Chinese cabbage, chard, corn, cranberry hibiscus, cucumbers, gynura, jicama, katuk, kohlrabi (plants), luffa, malanga, molokhia, moringa, okra, onion sets, southern peas, papalo, peppers (plants), quilquina, radish, rice, roselle, spinach, squash, sugar cane, sunchokes, sweet potatoes, taro/dasheen, tindora, tomatoes (plants), water chestnuts, watermelon and yams.

In North Florida, you can still put in eggplant and English peas.

In South Florida, delete cucumbers, kohlrabi and spinach from the list.
