Painters tape failed me so bad before showtime. (Congress 2024) It caused them to have more time of a bonnet shaped crest.

What happened…. the front part of the crest fell out of the tape and I didn’t redue it. They’re also still working on coming out of molt. So, that could also aided in the potential failure.

UPDATE Info** background of Parentage to these offspring (Father is BlkxBlk breeding Only & Mother is BlkxBlk or possible Paint)
** I do have BlkxBlk male and females within my breeding birds. Which are some of my best birds that i have and bring to the show hall.
I have other birds that don’t make the cut and we eat those eggs.

Here’s some (almost) 4 month olds from my paint breeding 😊 the blacks look so nice. I think there will be some really nice bearded blacks boys to benefit others breeding pens. If shipping, It can’t take place till the fall!

Here’s a pretty girl that I’ve been hiding in my pocket for the last 3 months. She’s 6.5-7months old now. I’m really in love with her beard It’s so full, as it extends from ear to ear. Such a pretty girl all around! (Sorry, this one is NFS)

This post is overdue (I’ve been very ill again🤦‍♀️) by 3 weeks. But glad we waited for them to fluff back up from the 🍑 peach galore trip😅 they had.

******* I would proudly like to introduce Clover (Left) and Fin (Right) named by Olivia😊
***** These birds are very young Clover is around 5 months and I think Fin is 6 maybe pushing 7 months old.

*****Olivia entered in an Essay with CMB Lucky Little Cluckers Lacy’s and her children wanted to pay it forward to the next generation kiddos that, were eager to show and breed the Bearded Black Silkies. They set out a request with requirements.

As Olivia and I were on the edge of our seats waiting to hear who the winner was. We received an email stating our Daughter (Olivia) was so graciously picked as one of the winner. She receive not 1…. But, a PAIR….! 😃 A pair of their award winning offsprings that they have worked so hard on, for so many years.

***Olivia is very excited to bring them to the show hall this fall. She absolutely loves them and can’t believe there are people out there are kind like this. (This is her words) Thank you thank you thank you

Look what we caught… 🤣 those pesky little critters!
I tell you what..! It Is EXTREMELY hard getting a chicken out of one of these because their wing feathers. I had to dismantle the complete closed side in order to get her out so I didn’t break any feathers. 🤦‍♀️ Silly Birds.

These girls will be available at some point… Total of 3 bearded paints and 2 bearded blacks and 1 Bearded Black showgirl. All Silkie Feathering.

Again… Not available just yet, just a visual of what’s coming up. Very soon, I promise. Soooo many of you have sent messages asking and I truly appreciate all of you.

I’ve been down and out with pneumonia for the 3rd time in a row.. I still need some time to recoup but I’m working on it.

I have 5 black chicks from my flocks breeding that have exceptionally large crest at 8 Weeks Old 😮 some are from my favorite black girls! NFS…. come on 10-13 week mark!🙌

This little cutie and 9 others will be heading to the sanctioned poultry show coming up! Excited to finally start this years show season (Congress was actually “the start” for this year) 😁 I have a lot of preparations to do before then.. Hopefully nothing gets cancelled at all this year… wishful thinking, right!

This is “little baby” 🤣 this is him every morning, getting his first drink of water. Ahhhhh refreshing! 🤦‍♀️ 😆

I love how friendly he is. He’s a complete love bug... he was hatched last year from another breeders eggs. He’s in the go pile unfortunately. He has 4 toes on one foot 😞. He’s really pretty with a big crest and good everything else. Hopefully he’ll find a home with someone that likes and or has room to test breed. (7-8 months old cockerel)

My Birds for show- Their second show of the season will be in May. a few birds are not visible in the photo unfortunately.
they are starting to look a little better then the last time. Good diet nutrition and fresh clean water daily is all I do. My birds don’t get spoiled with any treats.
**** Reason- I need everyone in tip top shape Because it takes away from their proper nutritional amounts they need daily to thrive. But they sure do love the supplement I use to top dress their feed.

What I have learned from doing this- The Silkie breed needs to stay small per the SOP. Which is 2.5 pounds for everyone.

Sharing is caring, Right! I just had to share how well this little girl is maturing. She’s a Non-Bearded Paint Silkie.
*** She’s actually an accident... I’m not sure how I was able to breed a Non-bearded Paint, in my flock of only bearded 😳.
So far she is perfect to go to the show hall this spring! She just needs to stay on shavings to start getting clean again.
***Lesson I have learned- Keep your birds for show, Off of dirt.

Cage Cups are a MUST! I really do like how these ones have high backs. Looks like they would work excellent with chicken wire to keep the cups at a straight position instead of leaning downwards like most others. These are great prices too.

Ooookay! Check this out! So this little lady bombed her day at the show hall!😖 This isn’t her first time being in a show either. but as you can tell, she wasn’t comfortable being there. She just wasn’t having it, and wouldn’t pose like she ALWAYS does at home. But... as soon as she got home LOOK how she started carrying herself as she normally does. 🤦‍♀️ out of all of the ones I brought to Northeastern Poultry Congress she was the one I had HIGH hopes for. It just shows some people will say they don’t pose correctly because of fluff in the eyes (which is very true) in this instance, it was a matter of comfort level.
** What did I learn- I need to do more coop training.

I had a wonderful time at Northeastern Poultry Congress Judge Jamie Carson did an amazing job selecting his winners with the Silkie Breed. I was able to take a glimpse while he was going through the birds. It was nice to see notes on the coop cards that didn’t satisfy him. Which is a HUGE help, “I think” when it comes to determining who should be in the breeding pen. One note I was seeing a lot was “ww” weak wing”. So many nice birds. I had a lovely time talking with so many of you and miss the ones that were not able to make it. My paint girl that git best variety, was her first time. I’ve been holding off on bringing her anywhere as I would hate to have something bad happen to her. Precious did very well and all the girls are happy to be back home.  Thank you for all that made this Congress one to remember!
