NEW TEAM MEMBER! Meet Alexis!

"Hello everyone, I'm Alexis, I'm thrilled to be working here, surrounded by furry companions every day. Animals hold a special place in my heart—I currently have one cat of my own and recently welcomed a new dog into my life. Back in my high school days, my passion for animals was evident; I brought three cats home during my time with my parents. Now, they have a bustling household with five cats and two dogs."

Here are some Summer activities for your pups!

Hiking: Take your dog on a hike on dog-friendly trails. Remember to bring plenty of water for both of you.
Beach Days: Visit a dog-friendly beach. Many dogs love to swim and play in the sand.
Camping: Bring your dog along on a camping trip. Make sure the campsite is pet-friendly and your dog is comfortable sleeping in a tent.
Park Visits: Spend time at a local park where your dog can run, play fetch, or socialize with other dogs.
Swimming: Take your dog to a safe swimming spot like a lake, river, or pool. Always supervise them and consider a doggy life jacket for safety.
Sprinklers and Splash Pads: Set up a sprinkler or find a local splash pad where dogs are allowed. Many dogs love running through the water.
Doggy Pool: Set up a small, shallow pool in your backyard for your dog to cool off and splash around in.
Fetch and Frisbee: Play fetch with a ball or frisbee in a shaded area to keep your dog active and entertained.
Agility Training: Set up a simple agility course in your backyard with tunnels, jumps, and weave poles.
Interactive Toys: Use puzzle toys and treat-dispensing toys to keep your dog mentally stimulated.

Brushing your dog's teeth is an important part of their dental care routine and helps prevent dental issues such as plaq...
05/30/2024

Brushing your dog's teeth is an important part of their dental care routine and helps prevent dental issues such as plaque buildup, tartar accumulation, and gum disease. Here's a step-by-step guide to brushing your dog's teeth properly:

Choose the Right Toothbrush and Toothpaste: Use a toothbrush specifically designed for dogs, such as a finger brush or a toothbrush with soft bristles. Avoid using human toothpaste, as it may contain ingredients that are harmful to dogs. Instead, use toothpaste formulated for dogs, which is safe to swallow and comes in flavors like chicken or beef to make brushing more enjoyable for your dog.

Introduce Your Dog to the Toothbrush: Before you start brushing, let your dog sniff and lick the toothbrush to become familiar with it. Gently touch your dog's lips and teeth with the toothbrush to help them get used to the sensation.

Choose a Quiet, Comfortable Location: Find a quiet and comfortable area where you can brush your dog's teeth without distractions. Choose a time when your dog is calm and relaxed, such as after a walk or play session.

Position Your Dog: Position your dog in a comfortable sitting or lying down position. You may need to gently restrain them or enlist the help of another person to hold them steady during brushing.

Lift Your Dog's Lips: Gently lift your dog's lips to expose their teeth and gums. Start with just a few teeth at a time to avoid overwhelming your dog.

Brush in Circular Motions: Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your dog's teeth and brush in gentle circular motions. Focus on the outer surfaces of the teeth, where plaque and tartar tend to accumulate. Pay extra attention to the gum line, as this is where bacteria can cause gum disease.

Be Gentle and Patient: Brush your dog's teeth gently and patiently, using slow and deliberate movements. If your dog becomes anxious or uncomfortable, take a break and try again later. It's important to make brushing a positive experience for your dog to encourage cooperation

Reward Your Dog: After brushing, praise your dog and offer them a small treat as a reward for good behavior. This helps reinforce positive associations with toothbrushing and makes it more enjoyable for your dog.

05/22/2024

Reducing shedding in dog coats can help minimize loose hair around your home and keep your dog's coat healthy and shiny. Here are some effective ways to manage shedding:

Regular Brushing: Brushing your dog's coat regularly helps remove loose fur and prevents it from accumulating around your home. Use a brush or comb suitable for your dog's coat type, such as a slicker brush for long-haired breeds or a shedding rake for double-coated breeds.

Healthy Diet: Feed your dog a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which help maintain healthy skin and coat. Consider incorporating high-quality dog food formulated to support skin and coat health, or supplementing your dog's diet with fish oil or other omega supplements.

Hydration: Ensure your dog stays hydrated by providing access to clean, fresh water at all times. Proper hydration helps maintain healthy skin and coat, reducing excessive shedding.

Regular Baths: Bathe your dog regularly using a mild, moisturizing shampoo formulated for dogs. Bathing helps remove loose hair and debris from the coat, reducing shedding. However, avoid over-bathing, as it can strip the skin of natural oils and exacerbate shedding.

Grooming Tools: Use grooming tools designed to reduce shedding, such as deshedding brushes, shedding blades, or rubber curry brushes. These tools help remove loose fur from the undercoat and minimize shedding by up to 90%.

Professional Grooming: Schedule regular grooming appointments with a professional groomer to have your dog's coat trimmed and maintained. Professional grooming can help remove excess hair and prevent matting, reducing shedding and keeping your dog's coat healthy.

Environmental Control: Minimize environmental factors that may contribute to shedding, such as dry air or allergens. Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air in your home, especially during dry winter months. Vacuum and dust your home regularly to reduce allergens and loose hair.

Regular Exercise: Ensure your dog gets regular exercise to promote overall health and reduce stress, which can contribute to excessive shedding. Physical activity helps maintain healthy circulation and encourages the shedding of dead hair.

Supplements: Consider adding supplements to your dog's diet to support skin and coat health. Omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, and other vitamins and minerals can help reduce shedding and improve coat condition.

Digestive Enzymes are so important!!

Digestive enzymes play a crucial role in breaking down food and facilitating nutrient absorption in dogs. Here are some benefits of digestive enzymes for dogs:

Improved Nutrient Absorption: Digestive enzymes help break down proteins, fats, carbohydrates, and other nutrients into smaller, more absorbable molecules. This enhances the dog's ability to extract essential nutrients from food, promoting overall health and well-being.

Reduced Digestive Issues: Dogs with digestive issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation may benefit from digestive enzyme supplementation. Enzymes can aid in the digestion of complex food components, reducing the likelihood of gastrointestinal discomfort and promoting smoother digestion.

Enhanced Digestive Efficiency: Aging dogs or those with certain health conditions may experience a decline in natural enzyme production, leading to inefficient digestion. Supplementing with digestive enzymes can compensate for this deficiency and support optimal digestion, especially in senior dogs or dogs with pancreatic insufficiency.

Support for Dogs on Processed Diets: Dogs fed processed diets, such as kibble or canned food, may benefit from digestive enzyme supplementation. These diets often lack natural enzymes due to the high-heat processing involved, which can compromise digestion. Adding enzymes to their diet can help compensate for this deficiency and improve nutrient utilization.

Alleviation of Food Sensitivities: Dogs with food sensitivities or allergies may have difficulty digesting certain ingredients, leading to adverse reactions. Digestive enzymes can help break down problematic food components, potentially reducing the severity of allergic reactions or sensitivities and promoting better tolerance of food.

Promotion of Gut Health: Digestive enzymes contribute to a healthy balance of gut bacteria by breaking down food particles that can ferment in the intestines and cause imbalances. This supports a healthy gut microbiome and can help prevent issues like bacterial overgrowth or yeast infections in the digestive tract.

Enhanced Immune Function: A healthy digestive system is closely linked to a strong immune system. By supporting optimal digestion and nutrient absorption, digestive enzymes indirectly contribute to overall immune function, helping dogs better resist infections and illnesses.
Increased Energy and Vitality: When dogs efficiently digest and absorb nutrients from their food, they may experience increased energy levels, improved vitality, and overall better health.
