Sasha working on some Runaway Recall to work on building speed when coming when called.
One of Remy’s main issues we are addressing during her board and train is her resource guarding at meal times. We started by teaching her an ‘out’ command which allows us to get her to disengage from food or whatever she is guarding. Now we are working on chaining the ‘out’ command to a recall and place to create a full picture where she disengages from the food and then moves away and to a spot at a distance allowing the handler to move in and pick up the food. We are also starting to test her by adding in some movement around her and bumping into her while eating to help proof the new behaviors for when she goes home. We want people to be able to be in the vicinity of where shes eating without her reacting
Hank showing off how he has been learning to be calm and wait at doorways. And open doorway isn’t an open invitation to rush out.
Bella has a history of being reactive towards other dogs and stranger. We have seen doing some socializing with her and other dogs to learn more about her triggers and work on her reactivity. We have learned that Bella doesn’t mind other dogs but she doesn’t like when other dogs are rude and crowd into her space. As long as the other dogs are acting respectful she has no issues. We have been teaching her other options on how to react if another dog is being rude. That way she knows appropriate responses that she can use.
Duncan’s owner has a bunch of grandkids and Duncan’s high energy has been too much for them in the past. We have been working on teaching Duncan how to relax and be calm even in highly distracting scenarios#dogtrainer #dogtraining #calmdogs #michigandogtraining #michigandogtrainer #northvillemi
Duncan enjoying some play time with the other dogs, especially his buddy Koz.
Coco has displayed some unsure behavior around other dogs. We have been including her in a lot of socialization groups and exercises and we are seeing start to come out of her shell and loosen up a bit. Here she was feeling comfortable enough to come over and check out Koz while he was getting some belly rubs.
Duncan working on transitioning to off leash reliability with his coming when called.
One of Riley’s main issues is she lives with an older dog and she doesn’t understand that other dog’s cues for her to back off and give space. So we have been helping to step in and teach Riley boundaries and proper manners for interacting with other dogs. Here she is practicing with Jelly. You’ll see us stepping in to advocate for Jelly’s space and sending Riley to place to help create that space.
Murphy enjoying some playtime between training sessions🐶❤️🎾
Murphy is having a blast during his board and train! Today he had a fun play session with our trainer, Tyler, in between training sessions.
Bandit’s leash manners have also greatly improved during his stay with us. Today he went to Downtown Plymouth and did phenomenal around all the people, traffic, and other distractions.
Bandit found another play friend today! His socialization with other dogs has improved tremendously over the past 4 weeks. Bandit went from being unsure and uncertain about meeting new dogs to being outgoing and playful!
Bandit enjoying some fun scent games. With this game we have 2 identical closed containers. One container has food and one does not. Bandit has to use his nose to find which one has food. Bandit was a natural and picked up on the game quickly. This game can easily be made more difficult by adding additional containers that the dog has to search to find which one the food is in.
I mean seriously, is Millie not the most adorable little puppy ever!? She had a blast having some playtime with our trainers!

Bob and Garvey practicing their off leash recall and having some fun in the yard today.
Bear showing off some of the off leash stays and recall he has been learning during a field trip to the hardware store.
Bandit has been making some really nice progress with his socializing with other dogs. Today him and Bear hit it off and spent a lot of time playing together.
Bo has a history of being reactive towards other dogs. We have been working on teaching him to ignore dogs on walks and he has been doing great with that.
Today we built on from there and got Bo into a social group. In order to help make sure everyone stayed safe we muzzled him which then allowed us to let him interact with the other dogs more than if we didn’t muzzle him.
Bo did really well for his first session. He was a bit unsure at first and didn’t want the other dogs to approach him but then he relaxed a bit and was more curious and wanting to meet the other dogs.
