Founded in 1907, Chenango SPCA (CSPCA) is a no-kill animal shelter that provides care for lost and homeless pets, adopts pets to new homes, and educates families and the community about the needs of companion animals.

We have one adorable 11 week old male pup (pittie looking) who is looking for a home.

Why do we say serious adopters only? The last group of eight puppies we had we received 18 applications. Sounds perfect. Not! People kept pulling out after we approved the application and after we set up appointments to meet. It had nothing to do with the pups.

This cat was found a couple months ago on Bliss Road, Bainbridge. She was just brought to us yesterday. She is a love bug.

Just a little bit of information: In the state of New York if you find a stray dog you are to call the towns Dog Control Officer (DCO) for the town where you found the dog. The DCO is responsible to pick up the dog and bring it to the shelter that they have a contract with. Most towns will not allow us to accept a stray dog from a Good Samaritan even though we all know you are trying to do what's best for the animal. Update: Fernando has found a home!!!!!
Help, Help,Help Please!
Fernando (male, 5 years old) and Joker (male, 4.5 years old) are our longest dog residents and they need you to help find them each a home.
These boys are fantastic with everyone they've met, super playful, know all their basic commands and have been with us too long. Both have been good with the dogs they've met, Fernando ignores the cats and Joker should not go home with cats.

18 month old Angel is just that. This very sweet girl is good with other dogs and seems not interested in the cats. She is about 55 pounds, knows her basic commands and seems to be house broken. You HAVE to meet her.

Grogu has spent almost all of his life with and we love him but we know he deserves more.

15 month old Zara had to be returned to us because both her humans have potential serious medical conditions.
Zara is still the very happy girl we first met and is going to make someone a wonderful addition to their family.
She gets along with dogs, is afraid of the cats and is in love with every person she's ever met. You really do want to meet this girl.

UPDATE: these found homes together!!
JellyBean and Starburst just turned 12 weeks old and are now ready to meet you. These are a bonded pair and will ONLY be adopted together. They were in an amazing foster home that spoiled them rotten, all in a good way. They are comfortable around dogs and cats and love being held a LOT.
With your approved adoption application the Safe Haven Fund for Animals will be paying your adoption fee. Free to you means more money to spoil the kittens with.

BIG UPDATE: Piper and Waylon were adopted TOGETHER We're hoping someone who is following our page is looking to adopt two teenager boys. Both of these boys have seen dozens of their house mates get adopted and yet no one has come to meet them. If you adopt them you are guaranteed neither will be asking to borrow the car keys, need the latest cell phone, ask some money and you'll never have to worry about them getting a girl pregnant. What you will get is unconditional love daily, boys who love to cuddle with their family, brothers who will always be best friends and you will know you made a difference for two beautiful boys If this sound like something you're interested in doing please come by to meet them Piper and Waylon. We are opened again Friday from noon-4:30 pm.

Skittles is one the cats that was abandoned at our back door in the rain last month His brothers have been adopted but Skittles hasn't been ready until now You can see his shy side but we know once in a home he is going to shine. Please come and give Skittles some love and consider adopting him.

Excuse the clarity of this video but we knew you'd enjoy it. Brother Colossus is bathing his brother Cotton. Please consider adopting these three year old brothers so they can stay together.

Meet JJ and one of our staff members Sam. We are looking for a home for three year old JJ but you need to know about his personality. JJ is not like this when meeting new people, it will take several visits for him to trust you. Only come meet JJ if you have an application on file and you are willing to make as many trips as JJ needs to be comfortable. It will be worth it.

Two year old Bruno is like human two year olds. Sometimes he listens well, other times not so much. But boy does he have a lot of potential.

We are so happy to tell you that Nix had his check up and sutures removed last with with Dr Sautter and got an A+. As you can see he's feeling like a kitten now. Depending on his weight on Friday, he may be ready for visitors.
