Yesterday was a crazy day, but that's no excuse for forgetting to wish our Sevy/Bruin litter a very HAPPY 4th 😱 BIRTHDAY!!! How has it been 4 years already??? We love you Tilly, Ness, Dürdane, Chief, Zolly and Mac!

I took in a foster pup yesterday from Nashville Humane Association. His name is Albi. Isn't he cute?? He's a sweetheart!

I was amazed... Meatball was distracted while eating, and the goat came over to steal a quick bite. Meatball chased him, and he tripped over the bucket, spilling the food on the ground. As you can see, that upset meatball, and she went to work trying to put the food back in the bucket!! I'd never seen a dog do anything like that in my life! She has an old pot that I usually feed her out of, but it's currently at the bottom of the pen. Almost every day, the pot ends up with a layer of rocks inside. I hadn't quite figured out how the rocks got in there, but I always wondered if Meatball was doing it on purpose. Maybe that's how she does it. 🤔 But WHY?

Some of you may remember Cedar Trace Sari Nova that came back to us in March of 2021 as a long and lanky teenager. We were able to find her a great home in August of 2021, where she has a buddy/work partner and gets to guard goats and horses. Her name is now Natasha and her owner just sent some updated photos. Natasha turned out so pretty! She reminds me of a rough(er) coated version of her sister Meatball!

I love watching these dogs communicate. Beya was trying her best to get Siyah to interact using playful body language, but Siyah would have none of her nonsense. She told her to knock it off with some low growls, so Beya didn't bother to keep trying. She walked away immediately afterward.

I'm pretty happy with how this little dog sweater turned out. It fits Polly perfectly... but she hates it! 😭 I used a pattern but adjusted it for her deep chest and skinny waist.

I was a little obsessed with the beauty of the sun hitting the ice on all the trees yesterday. Even though the cold is hard for me to deal with, I love scenes like this every now and then. 🥹 I sure wish my phone could have captured it exactly as I saw it!

Miss Meatball is blowing her coat again!!! Her coat gets so amazingly thick in the winter, and she has that Anatolian protective ruff, which gets even fluffier. 😍 I was hoping she'd hold on to her fluff a while longer, but the weather has been so up and down. I think she's confused. Time to break out the dog rake and get to work brushing her out again.

Happy New Year to all of you! 2022 was an interesting year for us and we stayed super busy all year. We expect the new year to be just as productive. No puppies in 2021 or 2022, but we are discussing the possibility of a litter or maybe two in 2023, but we want to be sure we are doing everything as responsibly as possible.

I took a break after finishing the first tube sock to make something different. I've been having fun these chunky headbands/ear warmers! I made one for myself with my and love it, but found that I wish it were wider. I made a second one just a bit wider and am considering selling it in my shop. My 4 year old decided she wanted one too, so we went to Hobby Lobby, and I let her pick out some yarn she liked. I love how hers turned out too!

I just wanted to brag on Skyview's Beyaz Gece Of Cedar Trace for a minute. This girl has been a bit of a handful while maturing, but she proved her LGD worthiness during the storm. The dumb sheep decided they wanted nothing to do with their shelter and huddled around a tree as the temps dropped and the wind went crazy. Beyaz never left their sides. We went out to check on everyone after dark and she was curled up right alongside the sheep. When they finally decided to move to the shelter the next day, Beya was right there with them. ❤

We've been talking about adding more sheep to our flock since the Gulf Coast and our "Pixie" sheep (Gulf Coast x Icelandic) have done so well on our land. We're looking for another hardy, parasite resistant, dual purpose breed, but it also needs to be something that's not too difficult to find here in/around Tennessee. Any suggestions?

I've been noticing how red Sevy is now which she gets from her sire Haluk who is a red fawn. Her coat is ever changing. Sometimes she is really dark and sometimes really light depending on the time of the year.
I had obviously disturbed her and Beya's morning nap when I took this photo. 😆

I am very pleased with how the red skeins turned out. The camera keeps trying to make them pink, but they're definitely a beautiful red in person. It's the perfect color for Christmas!

Mama Sevy taught the pups well! She spotted that vulture on the ground, and they all went nuts. Another proud moment with Siyah! She knew there was an intruder in her area and circled it while barking until I came out. I got nervous that she was going to get brave and go after the rattlesnake once I got out there to back her up, so that's why it sounds like I'm scolding her. I just didn't want her getting bit. I kept Siyah back until Chase got home to remove the snake and we praised her then.

I love this sweet boy so much! He kept looking at his handsome self on my phone. 🥰

Sevy and her daughter Siyah are like two peas in a pod. I love how similar they are and they really seem to enjoy each other's company. 💕

We all enjoyed the beautiful sunset last night 🌅

Katil, Maple, Bruin and Beya

Siyah and Katil found their first snake! With as much barking as they did, I thought it was every one of our Anatolians making a ruckus and I expected to find something much scarier than a rat snake! 😆 Good puppies!!! We are so proud!!

I heard a bark from an Anatolian that just didn't sound normal. I looked outside to see Sevy wagging her tail and barking at something on the ground, so I ran to check it out.

Anatolian Shepherds are so darn smart! Katil was fascinated by how I was opening the gate. You can almost see the wheels turning in his head... "Now, how can I do that without any of those thumbs the humans have?"
